  1. I guess you could use the acquired 'stiffener' in the areas where it will make contact with the holsters to prevent them from wearing out. I do have to say many, many years ago before I became involved in leather, I had my duty belts and holster made by an old guy. My belts were made with two strap pieces glued together equaling 8-10 oz and stitched, no liner. They have held up for over 20 years and still kicking. I use the same concept now when I make my belts. I hope this helps.
  2. Butch I agree. Beautiful. I also own a few Gore tools and they are really good. I love that tool box though. It sure would look pretty on my bench. Welcome to the forum and greetings from Central Texas! X

    Hello

    Welcome to the forum!
  6. Very nice work. Clean stitching work. Did you make up your pattern or use one? Thanks for sharing!
  7. Make a small investment (besides a contribution to this site), go by your local Tandy or the internet site. Purchase the 'leatherworking manual' and read it. It will answer all of your questions you raised. As for different blades, I recall a recent thread exactly like this one involving blades. Conduct your search (top right hand corner). Good luck.
  8. Store your new leather in a closet and you will quickly find out that they have a very strong odor. You can go ala natural and use plain oil, but it might have a slight smell. I would suggest if you are going to continue in this craft that maybe you consider a breathing aparathus? Sorry.

  11. What I like best about Grampas....is you tell him what you need and he can tailor it for you. Give it a try. Good luck.
  12. I make mine from 4-5 or 6-7oz depending on what I have in my scrap box. Good luck
  13. What kind of leather are you using for your panels? Veg-Tan, Chrome Tan, Latigo, etc? If you have not considered 'chrome tan', it is leather, flexible and will probably provide you with the emboss relief (height) that you are expecting. Using a thicker foam padding may also help you. Good luck!
  14. All items have been SOLD! Thanks everyone!
