  1. Welcome to the forum and greetings!
  2. I have a local getting out of the leather craft world and selling her items. She would like to sell her stuff as a whole but may consider separating them. If anyone is interested, you can email me and I can put you in direct contact with the seller. Any shipping costs would be the responsibility of the buyer. Here's what she has: Latigo Lace http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com/search/searchresults/5012-12.aspx Strap Cutter http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com/search/searchresults/3080-00.aspx Stohlman small maul http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com/search/searchresults/35060-01.aspx Edge Beveler, size 3 http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com/search/searchresults/8076-03.aspx 4 prong buckstitch chisel http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com/search/searchresults/8049-00.aspx rope stamp http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com/search/searchresults/6959-00.aspx flower stamp http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com/search/searchresults/6816-00.aspx barbed wire corner stamp http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com/search/searchresults/69003-00.aspx basketweave stamp http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com/search/searchresults/6514-00.aspx basket weave stamp http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com/search/searchresults/6507-00.aspx small seeder http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com/search/searchresults/6348-00.aspx rope stamp http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com/search/searchresults/66878-00.aspx pear shader stamp http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com/search/searchresults/6212-00.aspx barbed wire stamp http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com/search/searchresults/69002-00.aspx border stamp http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com/search/searchresults/6438-00.aspx veiner stamp http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com/search/searchresults/6412-00.aspx granite slab http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com/search/searchresults/32228-365.aspx protecto mat http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com/search/searchresults/3461-01.aspx handbook http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com/search/searchresults/6009-00.aspx minipunch set http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com/search/searchresults/3003-00.aspx 4 in 1 punch http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com/search/searchresults/3052-00.aspx ... and various conchos!
  3. I have been proud to have been one of your customers. Though I wish you would continue, I truly understand the meaning of change and the trail that it leaves. I too hate to move. I think I have one more move left in me before I am done. I wish you and your son success. I know that your son will blaze his own trail and continue the BearMan Maul tradition! Here are my BearMan Mauls to add to successful gallery on this thread. Best wishes!

    Spur strap

Wow! What a great design flow.........perfect for a cowgirl. Great job. thanks for sharing!
  6. I really like what you did with both of them. That EVOO is awesome huh.
  7. Mike: I do not make holsters, but I have some experience with inlays. I am sure that Dave's tutorial will help you, but if you need more information, I just completed an embossed inlay belt bag on my blog. It is always available for anyone to look it. Good luck
  8. For someone artistically challenged as I. I like my patterns to be life size, but I know that this may not be always possible. A cut line pattern would work where the user can connect A to A and B to B, if you get what I am trying to convene. I have patterns or ideas that I have drawn up on a piece of paper, but since i have to see a life size, I have not tackled it. If I have it has failed for me. I know, I know. But for me, I am totally a kinetically type of person. I was give a full CAD program, but that is another area that I lack abilities. I could not get the program even with with some hands on instruction. I ended up returning the program. I wish you luck though. I hope it works out because in the US, we definitely lack up to date patterns for all kinds of personal items minus chaps, bracers, etc.
  9. Working the holes with my awl seems to enlarge them a bit more to accept the double lace. The Spanish (or Mexican) round braid is a tough one for slits, but for me the look is much much better. To make it easier, try a practice piece using the round hole punch and you will not struggle. Also, don't forget to massage the lacing around the corners when you finish them. You can manipulate them a bit and try not to pull too tight. You do have to watch which cross member you are going to be going over and under for sure! This technique is my absolute favorite. Good luck
  10. Be proud! They both look good. As for the picture taking......baby steps!
  11. I have three from Brenda at www.lasergiftcreations.com and one from phillips engraving. I have been satisfied with both vendors. I hear a lot of great things about Greyghost and Infinity stamps, but as a hobbyist, I am limited. Good Luck!
  12. There is a market for the right patterns, but it would require a deep investment that may end up flattening out for you. I would suggest that you make a pattern or two and try putting up for sale. You seem educated, but please remember that once your pattern hits the internet, it will be open to be copied. I believe you would spend most of your time chasing the copiers than making patterns. But if you are up to a challenge......go for it. Best of luck!
  13. I am interested in the border stamp second from the right. Let me know if it is still available. I can pay through paypal. Shipping to 78681. Thanks.
  14. Welcome to the forum and greetings from the Texas Capitol City!
  15. Steve.......thanks for the comments. Typically, for me, I will apply a light coat of oil to my leather project. As for the oil, if I am using Tandy leather or any other leather that is lighter in color, I will use Neatsfoot oil because (for me) it applies a slight tint in color to the leather. I will usually place the project in the sun for a bit to really tan the leather. If I am using Wickett & Craig or my favorite Hermann Oak leather, I will use Extra Virgin Olive Oil on the project. I do not want to change the color so much but just apply some nutrients back into the leather. I will allow my oil to soak in and settle overnight before proceeding. This is also good because this is my hobby so I do not get to block every day. I typically have 5 projects (in different stages) on my work bench. When I can get an hour in or a few minutes. I hope this helps. Happy Carving!
  16. Here is my latest belt that I am working on for a dear friend of mine named Mark Martin from Virginia. He and I go way back and I recently received a visit from him while he was passing by the capitol city. It had been quite a spell since I last saw him in person. I offered him an opportunity to wear one of my belts and he took me up on the offer. He was not particular on the design and told me to surprise him. I really like customers like this. After clearing this design through my Q&A section, off I went. I used my Barry King Shell tool. I really like the design. I have used it on a couple of portfolios and book covers, but never on a belt. I am waiting for the oil to soak in and off to the dyeing stage. More information on my leather blog. Happy carving!
