One more thing, 138 should get a 23 needle. Might be a part of the problem.

I wouldn't say you have your tension correct. See all the knots? Too much top tension. As for your loose loop, you can adjust your pressed foot, stitch length, or how you feed it. Good luck.

New Shotgun Shell Pouches
l2bravo replied to l2bravo's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
CJ, when I started off, I looked and looked, and could find no patterns at all. I pretty much just made my own designs up. That took a lot of trial and error. -
Very clean work! What are the particulars on the leather? How was hide house?
-
Has anybody bought from them? Is there a minimum? How are they on prices and all?

First Bag

What kind of leather did you use? Very nice work! Yes, I have an 11 year old little girl... Yes it was all I could do when I dropped her off her first day, to make it out of the parking lot before I broke down. Quite strange I'm sure, mr. Big tough fireman, is a giant softy when it comes to his baby girl. -
Where do you buy these??? I have looked high and low, and can't locate. Any help guys? Thanks a lot, Josh

This was actually a typo. I meant to write $200, but it will not let me edit it.

I am selling all of this in one lot. I have a ton of caiman pieces that are good sized and in good shape. There are a bunch of usable tails also. I also have a bunch of elephant as well. It gray, black, nicotine. Throw in also, is a little ostrich, and some Nile croc pieces. Asking $300 for it all, shipped. Pm is the best way to contact. Thanks for looking, Josh y

I tried it on mine a few weeks ago. It sucked for sure. I COULD NOT get it tight enough with full tension, to use 346 top and bottom. I used 207 in my bobbin, and it worked decent. The thread was constantly shedding, and was tough to work with. As a side, I sew top/bottom 277 all the time. It's just a whole different game.

Are you hand sewing or using a machine? Either way, great work!

OK, so I have a question. What about if I was going to 3M the lining in the gun case, but then barge the edge, where I close the case up, to sew??? IS 3M strong enough to hold that too, til I get it sewn? Seam tape?

I build shotgun shell pouches, and bags, etc. What I have tried to deal with, is the same ideas as you. The best I can determine, is thread goes one of two ways: Either you use a thread that matches well, and somewhat blends in, or you use a contrasting thread, and it then becomes a focal point to the bag as well. Somewhat of an accessory of sorts. I think it's all personal preference.

How strong/long lasting is 3M 77? Is it a suitable glue, to use for gluing something like synthetic wool inside of a gun case? It's just a big surface, and doesn't seem like Barge would be right, seeing as the surface area is so big. Thanks for the help guys, Josh

Art, which ones do you have? The trimming knives look pretty nice.

Those Knipschield knives look awesome.

Sold, thanks.

Here are pics of the cayman and elephant. The cutting board has 1'' squares.

I can, but it will be tomorrow.

I have about 3 or so pounds of cayman and elphant trimmings. The pieces are anywhere from 2x3 - 2x8, 3x3, good for wallet inserts, holster inserts and such. The elephant is mostly black, with some tobacco. The cayman is browns and tans. Asking $50 + $5 for shipping for all of it.
