  1. Toro 20" splitter Laser cutting machine New mac with a full compliment of graphics and drafting software Long arm double needle machine (best most expensive available) Gunsmith lathe with all tooling Verticle mill with surface grinding capability and all tooling They cut me off here because im way overboard.....
  2. @Stu, Got a set of them, have a couple VB pricking irons too, Actually just honed and polished my narrowest set of the tandy punches so its smooth and makes smaller holes when i want to bang it through whatever im making, my biggest problem with this thing going wonky was because i was lazy to build a punching jig for this sheath or to glue the welt and stitch line, so was punching the holes on the edge of my workbench and the piece wasnt exactly flat because of the belt loop and keeper, Its a learning experience
  3. Thanks Stu,Is purely utilitarian, EDC An old timer is exactly what it was called, i like the blade style, sharp, small, for just utility or quartering game, I just wanted a basic sheath that was soft and light and would keep the knife in it no matter what i was doing, its definitely not the prettiest thing, does have a belt loop on the back, stitchings a little crooked but it aint fer looks,,,, I like the handle to ride high so when im on the tractor or in my truck its not in the way,
  4. I like the stamp! Sending email
  5. Im looking into this for my own templates, Based on what i have found out it may be cheaper to make my own templates, buy the acrylic sheets, and use a router to clean up the final pieces, of course it depends on skill levels. Would be great to have someone cut these out on a water jet or laser, but being that i no longer have access to AutoCAD or even a PC for that matter the WJ or laser are most likely out of the question. Not to mention the cost for local sources for this type of service,, So jig jig jiggidy jig a few dozen router jigs ill be building,,,, The good thing is i can make thicker templates,
  6. Cool beans! Thanks for the pattern,,, Was just thinking i should make myself a new wallet, the moths that live in the one i got ate holes in it and all the money disappeared! Merry Christmas
  7. This is part of the problem with our society today, People lack common sense,,,,,,, Great patterns and ideas by the way, thank you, like the stuff on your site, wish i had found you first, i paid for downloading holster and mag patterns elsewhere,,,,, Oh well, live and learn
  8. Fooling around getting the feeling ,, #1 project Knife is a blank from Texas Knife, love this style, fits in your hand good for cleaning bambi!
  9. Agreed,,, But in the 60s there was no internet, mass media or facebook,,,, So the 85 year old Hawaiian saddle guy was all there was, his saddles and stuff were real nice, didnt make too terribly many designer purses, and frankly wasnt interested in that trash back then anyway,,, You make do with what you have sometimes,,, Thats where Im at in this moment, just trying to figure out what i can do with what i have or how i need to modify it or modify my use of it in order to get the results others expect,,,
  10. I saw the links to his vids on another thread, will watch them for sure, The tandy chisel makes neet holes, especially since i polished them, saw some of the seiwa chisels on ebay, pretty cheap for sets of 4? Irons i think,,,, Will order a set and try them, This stuff is all new to me so sorry i seem like a kook,,,, When i was a kid and did leather work, we used the marking roller then made the holes with an awl then if you wanted to, went back over the stiches with the roller and some wax, but that was a long long time ago and the saddle guy who showed me that was an old old guy wayyyy back then.
  11. So what do you think the tandy chisel qualifys as? The holes are pretty big IMO, easy to sew buut
  12. Ahhh,,, Ill look for them, havent seen those, Any links for buying good ones? Will do, am going to search it now
  13. So been fooling around with pricking irons and hand stitching etc, One thing im not real thrilled with is how big the holes are, Have a VB #5 and even that makes a big hole unless you just mark with it and dont really punch, Other than the big holes making it easier to sew, whats the reason? What do some of you do to keep the holes tighter? I see the high end bags and such and wonder how they do their stitching etc, One thing ive been doing is honing and power polishing my tandy diamond punches, made the holes a little smaller, am thinking about taking the needle files to them and cutting them down a little more, so far its making it look much nicer, will post pictures when i get it where i want it Anyway, be interesting to hear what others are doing, im pretty sure im not the first to want tight holes!
  14. Sounds like you would be better to not deal with this person
  15. Thanks, is basic, seems to work good, just got to line the jaw with some leather, not sure if i want to use some suede or regular stuffThe seat and legs are mango, had some oddball shorts in a batch of lumber i cut for some doors and cabinets i need to build, the jaw was just cut from some scrap 4x6 doug fir i had laying around. Will cut new ones out of glued up mango when im satisfied the face angles and depth work. May make them longer, can drop something 16" wide into it as it is though
  16. Made a horse, trying to start out right this time,,,,
  17. Really nice stamps, I just bought a bunch of craftool stamps to add to a small collection of vintage stamps i bought on Ebay, Not impressed, The new stamps sort of suck, really disappointed, especially at almost 10$ a piece, feel like that was the worst 450 i have spent in a long time, basket weave stamp is shallow, the other border stamps same thing, just dont have the detail, just look like more cheap chinese crap So whenever i can get some money again i guess im going to hit Barry King or find some others, just hard to spend 30-40-50+ on one stamp
  18. Real helpful post, Thank you, Had been searching for blanks to make a round knife but didnt have any luck, then on a knife making forum read about guys using old circ saw blades for regular knives, That urgency passed and been using my utility knife, But then found this topic here this morning, got me thinking about all the 10" saw blades i have in my knaak box that i cant use since i got my 12" table saw. Thanks mostly for the status report on the sharpness, Im wondering about using the plasma cutter to cut the shape, i know grinding wont heat as much but the plasma may heat it less overall, then grind shape clean and heat treat in the oven,,,,, may be tough without knowing the type of steel the blade is.
  19. Ive been using one of these for burnishing http://www.katools.com/shop/guinevere-total-system-sanding-p-222.html They have cheaper versions, but can chuck up a small pro edge burnisher in either the flex shaft or the machine itself, maybe a jig to hold it so your clamp can run under the burnisher?
  20. Hey KingsX, had an idea for your jaws to hold the handles, Set up a router table with a round end bit in it and run some stock through it, will create a round recess that the round handle part can sit in, can then shoot it through the table saw to cut the bevel on the top of the jaw to whatever you like, just an idea that popped in my head when i was looking at your second picture
  21. Nice jig Don, lots of potential uses and possible ways to locate it, ie bench top or on a stitching horse,,, Funny how as we age we need to figure out ways to do stuff we maybe took for granted earlier in life
  22. Well guess im going to delete their link, no intrest in doing business with elitist, plenty other places who will take my money
  23. Thanks, guess repetition and proficiency is the key there, how much are you selling those slings for if you dont mind me asking, just curious, am working up some designs to drop at the local gun shops but know im going to have to have a varied range of prices, from basics to initialed all the way up through complete carve and stamps,,, curious what others are getting, our market here in the islands is a little different too. Thank you again bud, just trying to sort this all out,
  24. Chief,, Where do you get the deer stamps or are they custom hand cuts,,,, Some look like the 3d stamps from tandy but others look custom,
  25. Hey Chief,,, Is the deer a stamp? Looking for something like that
