  1. When you figure out where stuff disappears to let me know so i can look there for a few things im missing,,,,, Like the nail idea, no hatm in making what you need!
  2. Nice work, Where do you get those rivets or screw posts that you use? Those are nice, have something im doing that i could use those,,,
  3. Ferg, Im with you, am about ready to just toss all my tech gear into the wood chipper!
  4. I want in too,,,,Never even occurred to me that fetish folks could be a good source of ideas and business, good idea though, and kinda interesting, hmmm
  5. Otto,,, Just curious what round that is, look like A max or one of the Hornady bullets,
  6. Dont fall prey to tradesman snobbery,,,Have been reading the forums here, most folks are truly helpful, but there is an undercurrent of that elite mindset with a few posts here and there. Old sayings about more than one way to skin a cat run true, Lots of us cant afford 140$ for one edger, or 40$ for a single shading stamp, so gotta make do with what we got, I have seen plenty of beautiful professional grade pieces made with cheap Chinese tools and home made gadgets. Its in your hands as they say
  7. Sounds like me, had the $ so bought the cobra class 4S Look at it like other tools, bigger than you need is never a waste.
  8. I was thinking peddle powered, not like a treadle but like bike hardware, good control and good power potential. Leaves hands free
  9. Very very nice, i especially like the blueprint tube and stitch style,,
  10. Even better than p board, go to masonry products supplier and buy 1-1/8" form ply, way more stable. Better yet, can order adjustable leg set and butcher block from Grizzly for around 300$ and all you need to do is wait for the delivery truck with your screw gun in hand...,
  11. Nice top, Was thinking about making one for my cobra out of Corian, with stainless or aluminum plates at the needle area, have a bunch of leftovers from a couple jobs, easy to fix mistakes in the construction
  12. How wide of a piece have you been able to split? And will this type of tool split softer oil tanned leathers? Just curious, increases the versatility of the thicker leather that i have on hand
  13. You be interested in a trade? An LWRC SPR in FDE with a spiral cut barrel and nice scope?
  14. Im in the same boat as you, had some $ handed to me and rather than stuffing it away to lose its value weather sitting in the gun safe or being used by some banker i invested it in tools. So have a new class 4 showing up in a few days, i dont look at it as getting lazy, i look at it as increasing my potential.
  15. Thats a great needle chart, THANK YOU! Have been looking for a chart that compares and lists threads ie. The various numbers and corresponding decimal and metric sizes Googled my brain into a melt down and freeze up trying to find that.
  16. Thanks for the input, trying to sort out the supplies and what tools will do what, the hand stuff i got, or can at least fool with it until i figure it out, but mechanical side is new to me so trying to figure out availability and capability. The stitching on some items is definitely a focal point and definitely a design element. This biz is way different than making bridles and halters and saddle pieces, now in order to make a living im thinking i will need to be artsy fartsy and bust a move with the creativity. Heres another question you may be able to answer Wiz,,, Back tacking, Should i start stitching a few stitches off the end of the stitch in reverse and double the first and last few stitches on a run? I dont want stitching to unravel and have seen people do this in videos. Anywho, thanks for the input.
  17. @TinkerTailor Spoke to leathermachineco and they said the #27 was biggest, that will do 415 (.72 mm) according to charts ive seen. Used the 332 lin cable through a #24 on the ultrafeed, Wheres the best place to buy the linen threads? As for projects, Trying to develop custom covers for Ipads and Iphones, and some small shoulder pouches for women for carrying basics when walking or such, am also getting into gun leather, got to take a pic of my 1911 holsters, just about finished. So just different custom stuff people might like that is unique. I like clean lines and simple and my test pieces look good but want to refine them. Using the machine to sew will speed things a bit once i get the design square.
  18. I am getting back into leather So NOVICE R I! Getting tooled up and supplied up for my plan B livlihood. Have some design ideas i want to work on and am trying to find thread for the Cobra class4 i ordered. Looking for 415 or 554 threads in reds, greens, blues as well as the usual brown, tan, natural colors. Have read where running waxed is not a good plan in these machines???? So guess that shoots the or lin cable or other heavier waxed threads that are available???? did run some lin cable 332 (.77mm) through my Sailrite Ultrafeed and it did ok on two layers of 6oz leather after some fooling with tensions. So curious what the deal is with waxed in the class4. Also needle sources, Can we find needles of #30 to fit the Cobra? Anywho, Looking for input and sources Also curious what experience anyone has running the heavier Main Threads through the Cobra, know i can do .50mm but curious about heavier weights Thank you much all and theres lots of reading here to dig through.
