  1. Please could you help, I am looking for „p“ point or „pcr“ point needles which produce a heavy slanted or decorative stick similar to a hand saddlers stitch . These are not available in Europe do you know where to order them in USA. The stitch type you can see in the photo in my photo. I know „LR“ point needle , this gives a slight slant look. appeciate some names of the needles so I can search internet or does anyone have links for theses needles, 794 system for cobra4. I have already asked Steve, he does not know where to get. thanks charles
  2. This is Spanish vegtan from my mate Martin, between 1,6mm and 2mm thick. I dyed it myself and am very pleased with my mixed new cognac colour, the dyes are Fiebings. I have featured a brogue punch hole designs....I love this it is like those fine English shoes. The tool makes 5 holes, you have to sometimes remove the small holes to go around corners..the only thing I do not like is the creasing on the leather on the fastening clasp after use...can thi be avoided at all?. Any suggestions. Charles
  3. I have a beautiful singer 29k from around 1910, was lent 5o me it is very nice to look at but the bobbin is so small it makes it quite unpractical....but I still don’t want to get rid of it.

  5. My teacher told me to put a business card under the walking foot and then there are no marks....found this quite clever
  6. Hallo I am looking to ordering a table attatchment and some yarns and needles from the cobra sewing machine company. Of course I can order them in USA, but would rather not have to deel with customs and have the wait..Does anyone know where I can order cobra sewing machine accessories in Europe. I have ordered a new cobra sewing machine 4 from my German supplier, Martin at DIELEDERMACHER, a very competent guy, but some accessories he does not stock. My stockist in german is here if anyone is interested http://dieledermacher.de/produkte.php?kat=159
  7. wow I love all that space!!!....enjoy your shop...you can keep everything so tidy there
  8. Good points yin and dun....yes I would definitely not called a machine stitched item hand stitched or saddle stitched that definitely is misleading...and of course you have to point out the advantages and disadvantages of hand or machine stitched to your customers as there mostly is little knowledge of these advantage or disadvantages...and of course a saddle stitched item must cost more.....a luggage bag shows a very big price difference but maybe a wallet that is hand stitched take less time, is of course more durable and less costly because of little sewing time...anyway the saddle stitching is so relaxing.....I think and you are even more pleased with a good outcome....I prefer using my barry king awl and doing ever stitch individually... Charles
  9. Gary I hate Chinese rubbish, it is called in german „hand Knebel Presse“ and works a dream and I can use it for a lot of uses..I restored it myself the top winder is not original, has approx 1000kg pressure...mine is a type 8/12kn from Gechter
  10. Are those the P needles sold on Steve’s cobra site... Nw Point needles leathermachineco.com
  11. I agree with alpha and Mark.....it really also does depend on the customer and if they understand or appreciate the strong...almost indestructible hand stitching. I have included a picture of a luggage piece of mine...it is all hand stitched with saddlers stitch but because it having many double stitch lines the complete bag would take me 7 hours approx...the black vegtan was also hand dyed. It retails at €450 and I sell mainly on hip markets and nobody would buy it at that price....someone said to me they would not expect tp pay that price at a market...but if I machine sew it it would probably take me 4 hours and cost €320... now that price is more easy to sell. I think the beauty is to emulate the hand stitching as much as possible with a machine so the look is similar..I still will close the stitching lines with backwards saddlers stitch for strength...now I still consider this then to be hand made..will be using or getting a cobra 4 soon so it will also manage stitching with a thickness of yarn of 277 and 346.. and intend to use a rounded needle to have a slightly slanted look...
  12. Here is my space....have an office desk space too with computer where my new cobra4 will go too...but no picture...In Munich Workshops are so expensive my space is just in cellar and I cut out leather on a table in the office..
  13. Hi Northmount....that was just what I was looking for....will try out 207 277 and 346 yarn with 23 25 and 26 needles respectively and a round point for a slanted look..

Is it Polester TEX 207 or 277, and which needles do I use. Can I use these needles size #24 or #25 Leathermachineco.com I found lots of info about yarns on this site but no comparison to tiger ritza hand waxed yarn
