  1. We just 6 new acrylic templates in. So we will have them in the new item process very soon! Carve-rites also have more coming! (What are you thinking for modernized?) Hardware is slow right now. Trying to change mindsets here that customers are good with a bit higher price if the quality is there! So, keep pressing those questions and let us know that market is there! On your final thought...it is not always easy to hear where you fail and the tough convos are always going to be there. But I know for me...I really respect you guys and gals for letting us be able to respond to them. I think we all know we are going to make mistakes...but here at SLC we are going to work with you to fix them to the best of our ability.
  2. As much as I know this can open a very big can...we want to hear from you. I would rather this not turn into a bash session of where we have messed up and so on. But I want this to be a topic of what are you looking for that you can ever seem to find from us? Is it the really high end tools? Is it a different leather? Is it different hardware? Maybe it is none of those, but its something else. We never know unless we here from you.
  3. I think this has turned into a very excellent post. @Tugadude is spot on. Just pick up the phone and we will do all we can to make it right. As great as computers are....there always seems to be limitations to some extent. Even in some of these cases and I had our online chat turned on...I would ask you to call in. This is mostly due because I am the one that runs that as well as all the other stuff. (Like pictures for site, hosting our SLC LIVE videos on YouTube, website management and on and on) The girls on the phones are so busy right now and they can't do the chat and do phones. Don't get me wrong we love being able to help in all the ways we can, but we want to make sure it is the best possible help. Once we get all our other stuff in line...we will be able to open back up our first class shipping online and that will help for these small orders. Also, we are looking hard at how we can get a free shipping option if order over a certain amount...without raising product prices. Love the thoughts here and the great discussion that has come from this.
  4. I appreciate all of these thoughts and I can promise you this all goes into our process. We try to be as clear as we can and not try and hide extra fees and such....then have to come back and say...oh wow we now will be honest with our pricing. Right now our system pulls exactly what it would cost if anyone would ship what you purchase. Of course our price level is bulk pricing so we get that break and pass that on. With USPS always losing money...it is always the end consumer that suffers (when they raise prices)...especially in this pandemic day and age. Always feel free to call us if you question anything and we will do our to answer them. Our success is built on all of the crafters being successful as well.
  5. So I did a quick check on this and it has to do with the sizes or certain items and customers were just choosing First Class shipping for everything, but not all items by weight can actually fit in the box size for First Class. However if you call in then we can do First Class over the phone. Amazon is cheaper if you only buy one spool of Rhino, but you should be able to ship 3 spools for the same price as the you could 1 on the website. Like I said though...this is something we are working to get resolved, but fixing 10,000+ items is daunting at the moment. Feel free to send me questions like this or other troubles you might have.
  6. We have a few different carriers. If you call in they would put an order together and get you a shipping quote.
  7. Yes I will go in and see if we can get something figured out. And give those working on the new shipping quote system a push.
  8. You know....now through the end of the month Rhino thread is $4.99 for 250 yards. https://www.springfieldleather.com/Rhino-Hand-Sewing-Thread We are having 20 days of sales right now! https://www.springfieldleather.com/sale/crazy-days
  9. Who knows...I have been known to send out free things time to time on here...
  10. Glad to see you posted this Tuga...we have tried to get the word out about all of this, but it is guys like you and those in the forums that really help. The Rhino thread is 1mm so it it is pretty big for those irons. The explanation on the Rhino is very good...it is a looser weave especially when compared to Tiger thread. I would say that two big differences between Tiger Thread and Rhino Thread....weave and price per yard. Love seeing your review of this...hope you able to get by on a week day! Maybe we will get you in a LIVE video with us!
  11. We also have been carrying BK tools for quite sometime...and a lower price point.
  12. We have some as well that are very "Eco" friendly. I will post a video of Kevin & Rusty messing around with them. https://www.springfieldleather.com/Fenice-Diamond-Waterstain
  13. Hey Zulu, We have this Keen Edge Beveler. https://www.springfieldleather.com/Edge-Beveler-Keen-Old-126-2 These new bevelers to us have a slight roundness to them as well. But we haven't gotten our stock of them yet.
  14. While you are right about the pictures. Veg is one of the hardest things I have that I take pictures of. We are pretty good about working with the customers. The import stuff is much more cost effective, but it doesn't tool quite like HO. Now that doesn''t mean it doesn't tool, but it doesn't cut quite as smooth as HO. If you call in and talk with Liz...I bet she would get you a sample sent out. I am glad to hear you get most of your stuff from us! @TargetRockLeather I am glad to hear you get most of your stuff from us!
  15. The Tandy store here in Springfield has yet to open. They could have opened almost 2 weeks ago.
  16. There is a full side picture on our site. I can see it might need an update. That picture is from 2017-2018. Once we get back to normal work and not work from home...I will make sure it gets updated. Pictures of closer up. https://www.springfieldleather.com/Hermann-Oak-Craftsman-Tooling-Side Full side https://www.springfieldleather.com/Hermann-oak-side-craftsman-1011
  17. Todd, glad to hear that we have treated you well. Lucky for us we still are family owned! While I can't say we haven't said things to run customers off...I can say we do our best to educate our employees about leather working and encourage them into crafting things. Kevin and Rusty both take phone calls, so if you happen to call in and don't feel like you got the right answer ask for one of them!
  18. Sorry, that it got sent like that. I just sent a picture to Rusty and he was like ohhhhh no no no. I piece like that in 2 lbs is ok, but not a whole bag. Hope that the new bag finds you well!
  19. Thanks for asking me to comment and @TestTube thank you for send a picture of what you got. Compared to the picture that is on the web...I don't know how I would have felt either and reached out to the community like this. What I also like to see is people giving their honest feelings about what they have seen and not just throwing shade. With that being said I am going to send this to Rusty and let him see this. While these scraps are going to be cut offs...this seems to be quite aggressive in the other mark ups. I would expect pieces like this in a bag...but not sure that it should just all be in one bag. So let me pass this on and see what I can make happen. ***Like another asked and for my own thoughts. Was the 2lb weight at least correct?*** We also did a video some pretty bit up leather and I will post it in a reply...It however is not dented up like this.
  20. Exactly what I would have suggested to practice and learn with. If you would like some veg color options https://www.springfieldleather.com/Assorted-Color-Veg-tan-Remnant-5LBS Then this is some bundles we put together for just this type of thing. https://www.springfieldleather.com/Journal-Makers-Oil-Tan-Bundle https://www.springfieldleather.com/Special-Journal-Makers-Bundle
  21. https://www.springfieldleather.com/Pieces-Tooling-2-lbs-Bag We also have some other scrap bags and such. Look under the Leather menu option and then Remnants and Scrap Leather. Maybe even give us a call or drop Kevin a message from the website. He has been known to send things out before we even list them on the website.
  22. Here is some we have. https://www.springfieldleather.com/Wool-Shearling-Pads-8pk_2
  23. Just to make a note on this. The leather from Hermann Oak is Graded before it leaves their tannery. We all have our faults as well, but just want to put it out there...that Hermann Oak has a leather grader that grades the leather before it even comes in our door....or leaves their's.
  24. The stuff from HO is graded before it leaves STL. So, we sell it as what they send it to us as. Hopefully we will have a video showing grading and travel up to HO and have them share how they grade their leather because it is not the same way that import veg gets graded...from what I understand. The pictures posted above do show the rough areas on the neck/shoulder. I will keep and eye out for your return and get it processed through. Also, so we can see the rest of that side, I will grab pictures of it from our photo department to share here. We try very hard to make sure that we get it right, we are locally owned and have been from the beginning...in fact Kevin is here 6 if not 7 days a week (mostly in leather gathering...to teach our employees there on how to ask the right questions to get the right leathers out). We ship out any where between 300-700 packages a day, that is not to say we get it right every time, but we try. That is why we are so forgiving when we take returns and send labels out so you don't have to pay shipping back. I'm glad that you reached out so we have a chance to get this order right for you. Seems though this is not the first order you have had that has come to this. So, if you want...we are a closer drive than PA...so come on down and you are more than welcome to hand pick your leathers out. If anyone needs to express something different further up the line...here is Rusty's email: Rusty@springfieldleather.com He said he is more than happy to talk with you. SLC was built on making sure we make our customers successful...so to do anything to negate that does nothing for us.
  25. Here is a couple different remnant options we have to get you some practice pieces. https://www.springfieldleather.com/2lbs-Heavyweight-Veg-Tan-Scrap https://www.springfieldleather.com/Pieces-Tooling-2-lbs-Bag
