  1. Just wanted to drop the link to our scraps and remnants. https://www.springfieldleather.com/Leather/Scrap-Leather
  2. If you seen our Black Friday Sales...then here you are! Good news...they will actually run to the end of the month! https://www.springfieldleather.com/black-friday-2018
  3. Let me know if there is anything I can help with here. Looks like JLS got you the link.
  4. You can still get the same results in Express. All I am doing is selecting an area and replacing the color. If she needs any help accomplishing it, just PM me and we will figure out how to make it happen. Maybe I am thinking elements and not express.
  5. Ok So let me see if I can show you my work flow. I open in Lightroom and do the heavy adjustments and then pull it into Photoshop to get the background pure white. First here is the setup I use here for now. Were are in the process of construction...so my space is in flux. So in Photoshop it is, use wand tool and then shift+click to ad to the selection. Sometimes I have to use pen tool to get a closer more exact selection. Then shift+f6 to pull up the feather selection (in the menu Select>Modify>Feather Hopefully this link works: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1tjrXI0tA96F8niFbqJV5rvK4JswsxMAg I will put the pictures here that I edited in the video.
  6. The price of the camera has little to do with how good your pictures turn out. In my former life I owned my own photography business. Here is a shopify link: https://www.shopify.com/blog/12206313-the-ultimate-diy-guide-to-beautiful-product-photography My thoughts are that you really need to decide what you are taking your pictures on and keep the background consistent. JLS has given his thoughts on the white background and I can see that stance as well...it is kind of boring. But why to use it...it creates consistency, it highlights the product, it makes color balance easy. Now it looks like the background to your site is not true white (#ffffff) which is fine, you could just use the hex number for the background of your site to file the image. I know you are just a store front and that is fine, but a static home page with some attention getting images will get someone to stay on your site. That is the key...you only have around 5 seconds of someones attention before they move on. How we do that is the trick that everyone is trying to figure out. You have to make some sort of connection to them and them to you. Why should I be looking at your site? In all honesty it took me about 6 seconds to scroll your link and then I was done. So, I will say that you need a home page that incorporates your logo...right now your logo stands out in a bad way because it is a white box on your site. Draws the wrong attention. Next you need to make an about page the helps people see who and what you are...and how you got there. Help them connect to you. The last page is a contact us page that has a contact form on it. That way you aren't just sticking an email address up there. When you get that you might look into: return or exchange page, privacy policy, terms and conditions and the likes.
  7. First thing I thought when I saw the OP was that he was meaning Veg Tan as well. I did a quick search and evidently there is popular use of the phrase vegan leather...I assume this is because some people believe that is is possibly more friendly to animals and the environment alike. A few highlights from this article: This leather substitute is used to make clothing, shoes, accessories, upholstery and more. It’s often indistinguishable from the real thing, and is much cheaper to manufacture.... (I can say this would apply to the consumer, because its not that hard to tell the difference). ...is made of scary materials like polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polyurethane and textile-polymer composite microfibres. In other words, generally speaking, ‘vegan leather’ reeks, literally and figuratively, of petroleum. It gets worse. Both leather and vegan leather production emit chemicals harmful to environment and factory workers alike. Despite these eco-horrors, many eco-warriors find vegan leather production even worse. For example, the manufacture and incineration of PVC-based synthetics produce one of the most toxic chemicals known to man: dioxins. Found in almost every single modern human’s body, dioxins promote developmental disturbances and increase cancer risks tenfold. Some manufacturers, including Valentino and the entire Gucci Group (now known as Kering) are very much aware of the issues surrounding leather production, and have now vowed to use only vegetable dyes, natural tanning processes.... All that being said just so we can all be a little more educated of the world around us. Sorry for the long post. Now we do sell some cork here...it is pretty great to deal with and looks very trendy. https://www.springfieldleather.com/search?keywords=cork
  8. Sam this is really great to hear! I will go tell Mike the kind words. Also, feel free to call in with any questions or problems you come up with. We will help you get through them to the best of our ability!
  9. https://www.dryicons.com has some really good stuff. https://www.vecteezy.com/
  10. I will keep an eye on it. I still can't reproduce this action. That is good to hear about your call in. I will see if I can't find out who took your call.
  11. Well luckily it is fixed. I can't think of why it would do that, because we don't lock our items to those who are only logged in. Thank you for pointing out so that we could look and see if it was on our end. It is much easier to fix problems when we know what they are.
  12. I will go right now to talk to the rest of our team on the website. This is an interesting point, I have not heard of anyone having this issue. I have tried 3 different browsers where I cleared all history, cookies, cache and can't replicate this. I do have the website popping up the email newsletter pop up on roll out, but not the page redirecting. What browser are you using?
  13. Looks pretty close to this https://www.springfieldleather.com/Oxford-XCEL-Sides-London-Green or https://www.springfieldleather.com/Oxford-XCEL-Sides-Kelly-Green I have worked with the Blue Ink and it was really pretty great to work with...was even able to work the edges over pretty well. Wish I would have taken a picture of them.
  14. This is chrome tan unfortunately. It does come in a 3-4 oz and we will cut whatever sqft you would need. We will however split it down more if you need. I am not sure how thin we can go on that though. Hopefully this helps some.
  15. That is impressive metal work! Man that is a great saddle to look at....and to ride, I would only imagine.
  16. You're welcome to all of you. I know every little bit helps and we are happy to do what we can. Would love to see some finished products out of all this! We are trying to be better about showing our customers off! So if you want to share pictures of your SLC leather then I will see what I can do to get it shared over our social if you want and tag you in it. I was really impressed on how well they looked for #3 as well. So, it just goes to show how loose the grading can be...especially on ostrich....the grading is pretty crazy when you research how they do it.
  17. The size refers to the cap size of the snap head. Most commonly ~12mm and 15mm respectably. Another way to search is ligne (line) which is an older measuring term by the French. It is typically used in watchmaking and button making most notably. If you look for that term you should find a bunch of charts to show the measuring.
  18. Welcome John! Looking forward to hearing more of all your adventures! I could use a pilot from time to time!
  19. We really love being a part of this community here and wanted to pass a little something on to you. On your next order, either online or call in...just put in the code leatherworker2018. I'm sure it is long over due, but we wanted to show our appreciation! Some Items however are excluded from this discount of 10% off.
  20. This is partly correct. The prices are still being updated on our website. But the price that is on there now is the lowered price...until we run out of the machines we have at those prices.
  21. So I know we have had a lot of talk here lately about sewing machines and what that means with the new tariffs that are happening. We are seeing that it is going to increase the cost for us to get them by 25%. Now, some good news...we hate the tariffs in this area just as much as you may. So, what we did to show that we want to help leather world we serve, is to buy a stock of machines before the tariffs raised the prices. We have a limited quantity of these machines that can be bought at the sale price. Also, we have a company we work with called Quickspark and they have offered no payments on machines until 2019.
  22. Anyone wish they could take a tour here, but are located to far away?? Here you are!
  23. The phones don't turn on until after 9:30 am central on Wednesday. We have a company meeting that morning. The pieces will all come with a piece that is big enough to make a wallet out of. The pieces I have at my desk are showing 5-7 oz.
