Yes Pablo, Over here people hunt ostrichs as well but that changes nothing that it's a protected species and also in Argentina forbidden to hunt. They are not that much an "invasive species" since they are non competitive for nobody and no other species. They are similar to Turkeys, and have a similar food supply. Not similar regards meat but similar in relationship regards food competition to humans and other animals. Ostrichs are here many as well (I am near to Argentina) but they control Worms and even snakes. You will have an Augmentation in poisenous snake Population if you diminish ostrichs. That will cost you beef animals when they are bitten by snakes and die. Ostrich meat is famous for being full of Worms. I guess "they are what they eat". Guanaco (Lama) we dont have here but Capibara yes. I am sure ostrichs are an protected species in Argentina as well since we have allmost the same legislation over here (we are famous for bad copying argentinian laws). Ministero da Fazenda is brasilian. The documents you Show there are brazilian. Are you sure you are in Argentina? The Cadastro de pessoas is that a Kind of personal ID? At least it's portuguese so no argentinian whatsoever. However the Receita Federal, as far as I know is in Charge to control smuggling and drugs. They will jail you in if they see that ostrich leather. But as we all know, the southamerican "way of being" is to skirt the law. Over here biggest drug sellers in small cities (1000 habitants) are the very Police. Sometimes they raid some drug selling Establishments in order to get rid of competition.... -

How much Charge you for that? I dont see any propperly burnished edges! Try binding with matching colour Nylon webbing. Besides that, what do they really protect? I dont see any compartment for pens, and the like which Shows they can hold something. The rivets give a elegant tone to the pocket protectors but lately I had to patch up an rivet on an commercially bought pistol Holster since it got in contact with the gun and scratched it up. -
BTW, the colour difference in the leather is due to using different Smartphones for taking fotos. First unbound foto of Smartphone case is made with an Windows 10 phone (Microsoft 532 phone) without Flash. Second foto of the now bound Smartphone case is made with Flash with an Samsung J2 Prime phone. The last one reflects true colours (or the leather has aged a bit over time while using). The edges are not evenly round but in the future if I glue the binding on, that Problem will be gone hopefully as well.

Ostrich leather is forbidden in Brazil as well as were I am located. But anyways. Guys, were did you get it it's ostrich leather? Ostrichs are forbidden to hunt over here. Those clean your grass pasture from Worms and other bad insects. And yes it's true an Ostrich sticks his head into an (sand) hole when he is exhausted and an predator is running after him. He thinks if he sticks his head into an earthhole he is safe (since he cant see anymore his Body which is exposed to the predator). We have here plenty of wild ostrichs and their Skin is pretty Thin. Could be that their leather gets to 1.3mm (about 2 to 3 oz) but not more. You could use as well some chicken leather (if such exists) which should be similar to ostrich leather. How do you do the edges? Do you bind them with Nylon webbing? I have just recently found out binding is a very good and quick alternative for any other fussy edge finishes. -
Just to Show you guys the huge difference binding makes to unfinished or other leather edge methods. First pic is the not binded Piece. It's full grain pig leather. Second pic is an Amazon pocket Holster binding example. UTG Holster. Mark the matching colours to cover up imperfections. Third pic (on next post) is the binded (1.15" Nylon Webbing) of the first pic Smartphone case. Local people tell me it's very nice. While there may be other Labor intensive methods to leather edge finishing, which mayorly feed and invest in the ego of the crafter, I have yet heard one negative comment from locals to this binding Approach. Though it can be perfectionised further - but These are free Hand sewn on binders using only the aid of an roller aid.

Dont bite your tongue Monkey. SAFETY FIRST! as we all should know. Rewieving your writings I could not find by all means any "advice". My pieces of art @Etsy.com @RusticLeatherShop are meant for the US and European market specially. I would never expect people from Southamerica to buy my stuff due to the simple fact they would not even Shell out often 3 US$ for that since local pricing is just "down the Basement" (leatherworkers live here for 4 $ a day often if they are latinos and according to that leather work is here priced). I asked my Workers (latinos) what they Think About the binding as I showed them the pieces and they said "awesome" and "nice" (covering already half of the vocabulary of Mr. Donald Trump which consists of About 500 marketing words and the rest are another 500 common english words totalling an whooping vocabulary of 1000 words maximum). There is locally and seems on Etsy.com as well (many people have not sold Things for years on that platform), just not an market for nice burnished edges, and if they pay you 5$ for the most awesome piece. Even Monkeys works would sell for About 10$ maximum. Well, there ya go! If the binding is good enough for Amazon, it's good enough for average Joe as well. The binding is indeed not to expensive but it's thick Quality nylon webbing commercially availlable here. Out of that nylon webbing people make horse accesoires and collars for all Kinds of animals and poor people use that to make their own belts. I would not wine About the nylon webbing. Neighter I would wine About the strength of that binding technique since it adds 2 sewings to the piece giving it the double strength as before (I use FF, aka #138, bonded nylon thread). A Little improvement and one can safely Neglect greater care when "slappin' " (aka sewing) the leather pieces together since afterwards the binding covers allmost every imperfections WHEN THE BINDING IS DONE CAREFULLY. Basically: just do very well the binding, and there ya go! -

Thank YOU! However that was meant. Anyways I feel binding has more potential than any silly burnish, sanding or painting dream hopes which will never come true in my case. Additionally I like the double stitch the binding allows me for an sturdy Piece of Rustic "Meisterstueck" (masterpiece). Biggest plus is indee the binding covers really lots of things up. And it's not as difficult, but rather quick. Most difficult is to really hit the folded lower part with the needle. But when matching thread, binder and leather in colour then one can worryfree run the missed parts over again with the machine without it being to noticeable. Edges can be ran continuously without having to cut the binding material. But binding is really not difficult as I have found out with These 3 pieces I did in 1 hour today. Glued the binder previously on and the Piece will be without any blemish at all. Top notch! -

some info I found on binding material. This is from Sailrite Webpage. They use 1" binding material. That blue Nylon webbing I was using is a Little over 1" (like 1.15"). But IMHO it's more heavy duty than the Sailrite material as far as I can see. https://www.sailrite.com/Binding-Acrylic-Pacific-Blue-1 Sailrite quotes this on their Webpage regards the binding technique: >>To install Sunbrella Acrylic Binding, sandwich the binding over the raw edge of the fabric and sew in place. Using a 1″ Binder Attachment on your sewing machine makes installation fast and easy, but binding can also be sewn without an attachment with a little patience. <<. So it can be used as well without attachment, speak, only with roller guide with the rigth sewing care. In the future I will try to glue the binding on to Position it equal exactly on each side and match it to the leather colour and thread colour to hide some missplaced stitches. The leather below is sewn together then without greater worry since the overtop binding will cover any imperfections as such as the leather has to be only fairly equally cut but no needing for sanding and burnishing anymore. Neighter the silly painting. Binding is the way to go! -

The leather pocket Holster above bound in blue is a copy of the UTG Holster. That Amazon Holster is totally black, including binding material and thread as such as to cover up any imperfections. That may be a good idea as well to use a leather matching (dark Brown or blackish) binding material from Nylon webbing and then matching the exact thread colour as such as to cover up any bad stitches. If it is good enough to sell as that the UTG Holster at Amazon, than that "chinese way of doi'n" is good enough as well for leather binding (match everything same colour in order to cover up imperfections). BTW the additional binding gives a double thread (additional thread) strength to the Holsters and cellphone cases since the leather layers are sewn (aka slapped) together before and on top of that the binding is sewn giving it the double strength. Not bad for me! -

I only can assume you meant that an pink lipstick would not make an nice looking women on that black witch! like in this Video . I agree with you on that. Nevertheless I did my 2nd and 3rd binding and that turned out better. As such as if you would put an black lipstick on my pale face, I surely would get the Skin of Barack Hussein Osama bin Obama. Whatch These my improvements. BTW, the binding is done really quick. And the roller guide does help really. -

My idea is that a finish should cover up imperfections. Basically sew it together quick and then bind it and it Looks like a professional work. -

I did it! I put on the machine the swing away roller guide and tried my first "binding" with Nylon webbing. Not yet ready for sale, but for private use it's an huge improvement over all other methods. Way better look IMHO after the binding, compared to before. I am going the "binding way" instead of any burnishing or painting. -

Back to the future. That may be an Option. My CB4500 came with an Swing-away roller guide. Will that Swing away roller guide aid in folding leather or binding semi Manual an leather edge? I can imagine the roller edge is able to press the binding material right against the leather edge, were the Walking foot is pressing the upper half down and the leather presses the lower half down as well. Maybe the pressing Action of the roller is enough to get an fairly nice and straigth binding. I'll try that out on evening with an 1" Nylon webbing (I dont have the Courage to try it with leather). -

How much ounce are those fish leathers? I see it can replica Alligator leather. I wonder how in the world one could burnish such thin leather. That must me Sub 1mm leather, being that about 1 oz or less. I cant even manage to burnish 1 layer of the "thin" 4 - 5 oz leather I use. -

Thats what I was suspicious about. False info on Youtube and Forums. Once you take that info from Posters not as a Gospel, they start bullying and telling you "not listening to advice". I saw that Suggestion on various Webpages (dont remember were) and on Youtube. Said explicitly water based acryllic paint, AWESOME!!! Lots of faux Posters IMHO, the like as on Amazon.com often the Reviews are fake and people got paid to post negative or positive Reviews. Seems to spread over to other industries like the leather industry... -

Yes I believe as well the prework is lacking. But certainly These paints DO NOT hold up in every day life. I DID sand by far enough the edges in order to provide for an rough Surface to have an adhering foundation for the paint. To no avail. The aquarella paint bleeding Color is another issue. That burning with an hot iron may be an solution. I tried it just with an soldering Equipment and it burned the edges but makes it glossy shiny while coaling it. But that will be worked out somehow if I get a better iron like the guy in the Video. No offense meant to nobody! -

I can only imagine you referr to Vale leather. That could be eventually thick enough to Show an edge as far as I can imagine. For me - I am not gonna on a fish kutter and catch a Vale in order to prove the Point. For the douchebag: sorry. I was thinking on James Yeager (a YouTuber in gun channels) and suddenly the word "douchebag" came to my mind (since that guy is often called like that by ex employees). Sorry to copy-paste Yeagers goat beard onto your face in my imaginations. Schlock? That sounds jiddish. Dont worry: I will improve over time. Just not yet I have found the right materials to Support propperly my disguised, missunderstood and hidden Genius. -

can you Elaborate a Little further on the "hot iron" method? I can buy an iron for clothing to iron the raw leather edges and then paint it and iron it over. If it just would make the trick it would be well worthed. Shipping paint from Amazon.com is not a Problem but not gonna do it since shipping costs can be expensive and lets be honest, local paint should do it as well if that method works. The "hot iron" method would be interesting if it works. -

LetterT, I totally second that what you said. Similar experiences I have done as well with my Experiment. Seems that LetterT has real life experiences. I'll get some fine sandpaper and see what I can approve with that by burnishing the edges. Maybe getting and wooden handheld burnisher as well from Amazon.com over time. UPDATE: The fabric textil rubberish paint is Peeling off partly on my EDC pocket pistol Holster after 1 day use already. The aquarella paint is "bleeding" paint once it gets wet a bit from even touching it with sweaty Hands (I live in an hot climate were 100 degrees is not unusual during summer and hence people are sweating "like a pig"). I had yellow and red painted Hands today from handling that Smartphone case and EDC pocket pistol Holster (pockets are inside a bit sweaty and thus are painted a bit as well from the bleeding Holster). I consider These 2 paint Options a fail! -

Sounds like the gun industry guys on gun Forums who Lure you into burning thousands of rounds in order to "practice", blaiming the shooter is a bad shot when the poorly costructed and designed pistol is in reality not Shooting straigth due to the gun industry wanting to save a dime. If the finish did not turn out ideal at the first, ceteris paribus, neighter the 1000's try will Change the endresult. Propper paint, technique and Hardware can make any fool into an expert; but not repeating over and over the same mistake (by not having availlable the propper paint, technique or Hardware). -

more douchebag I cant even imagine. Fish leather ... Sounds like those gun Forum advises and internet-mall-ninja Posters whose solely Goal is to censure Forums Contents by repeatedly Claim and blaim other Posters they "do not listen to advice" and the like to start of an reaction of the OP in the hopes the moderator will ban his account. I have shown in any measurable practical first Hand experience and leather pieces the results of those so appraised "advices". I have found that often on Forums misleading info is posted which is just not repeatable once you try it yourself. The cow leather I work with is about max 4 to 5 oz leather and even if I try to burnish it with an stick by Hand, it just bends over or turns it's edge away as such as no practical burnishing can be done with that. However I can see how one could sucessfully burnish full grain belt leather (10 to 14 oz I guess). But suggesting I do not "follow any (shaddy) advice" if I dont manage to burnish 1 oz fish leather, is really beyond any reality. One solution to get a "good enough" edge is to use Brown or black fabric paint and paint it twice. That way it gives a layer but not such a smooth Surface as Posters posted here. It seals however any uneven parts between sewn together leather and makes it somewhat less noticeable. Maybe we have here in Southamerica just not the right paint for leather glossy smooth finish. I'll see next month what construction retailers have in stock here. Maybe I find an suiting paint. -

See below the photo. The thick White arrow Shows at my faux leather chair edge which has an (easy to peel off) rubberish finish. The thin White arrow Shows at the pocket Holster leather edge put on 2 times the fabric rubberish paint (2 layers). That gives somewhat similar result as my chairs finish. Maybe I buy only Brown and black textil paint and paint the edge 2 times over which will give a thicker layer and Looks a bit more professional. -

I use the electric sand Stone. I believe it has the number 35 on it. Nevertheless the acryllic aquarella paint is not giving any "layers" but more soaks into the leather. No layer Forming with that paint whatsoever. So even using an fine sand paper, I have nothing to sand at....
