Thanks thunder9 - so, on a standard walking foot the feet are all that does the "walking"? -

Good afternoon! As in the title - what is the difference between a Triple (Compound) Feed machine and a Standard Walking foot machine? In looking for a machine I see some noted as "just" walking foot and some as compound/triple feed walking foot. Thanks!

I'm finally in the market for a sewing machine. Looking at all of the cylinder arm machines - medium duty. I've checked all of the dealer sites here and have it narrowed down to a few machines. What i'd really like to find is someone locally that has a machine I can visit. I've never used a cylinder arm and want to make sure i'll like one before biting the bullet. Any machine dealers near me carry mostly fabric/quilting machines. They have offered to order a machine for me with prepayment (which is understandable) but i'd really like to see some in use or try one. Any suggestions or anyone here in or near MD that would let me visit? Thanks!

Good morning! Bringing this back up again. I'm finally looking for a machine that I can use on my boot top and saddle blanket/canvas with leather gusset purses. Will also be sewing some used belts together. I'm thinking this machine will fit the bill? I don't see myself ever going over the 3/8" on anything. I've researched these machines till I'm second guessing myself. I've never used a cylinder arm machine but am pretty sure that's what I want - I can always spring for the flat bed attachment as well. After a few trips to the local shoe repair shop to have them do some sewing for me - I think I need to make the jump! Unfortunately, I can't find anyone locally that has anything that I can even sit and try out. Recommendations?

Sorry for the late reply! Thanks for checking. I'm considering it - just debating whether or not to wait till I can afford a power machine!
