What a great sign you have done. Just as well you stated at the bottom re accidents as I an not a Spider fan,I went through a window once because a Rubber spider, so I could not even tool one like that let a lone look at it on the screen. Great design even with the spider behind my piece of paper. Kiwi

Hello there Jamzdean, What I suggest is that you use a modelling tool and thinking of real hair and how it falls you do light lines at her head, going to heavier lines towards the ends of the hair. Form the depth by making some places pushed in as inverted tooling. This will make in hair look thick and flowing. DO NOT CUT the hair with your knife. Hope this helps, as I am Not sure if I explained it right. The rest look s very cool. Well done. Kiwi

Hello there Five star, I am going to suggest that you get the pattern pack from Tandy leather on spur straps. They have about 5 different designs in the packet. Kiwi

Grand old Sailing Ship. The Cutty Sark.
kiwidownunder replied to kiwidownunder's topic in Figure Carving
Yep I agree there is just something about the water with sailing ships. I think that they are a beautiful sight to see. I have never being on one, so that must be a thrill and a half. That is cool that your father made model ships. Thanks you all. Kiwi. -
Grand old Sailing Ship. The Cutty Sark.
kiwidownunder replied to kiwidownunder's topic in Figure Carving
Tony, Your teacher was right, but just as a matter of interest the wind is pushing the ship forward, which depending on how many sails, sail sizes, and the speed, the flags would be blown in the direction of the wind created by the forward motion, and movement of the ship. So you see both ways are correct really. Kiwi -
Very impressive mask. Do love the colours. As for a name I can only think of one right now and that is " Mystical Camilian" Think I spelt that wrong. Spell check not working. Hope you know what I mean. Kiwi

This a Carving I did in New Zealand. It is around 36" x 28" and had lots of added details, such as all the sails, ropes and ladders, etc. I ended up doing two this size, and then two smaller ones. Each one was different in some way. I did the first one just for the fun of doing the ropes and sails. Sorry the photo is not better. A little fuzzy. Enjoy and happy carving. Kiwi.

I was not sure if you mean ONLY carved roses , but here is one that I did awhile back. 5" x 8" molded red rose set in a frame. I did it on the spur of the moment on Saturday when I was bored. It is hanging on my wall for now. Kiwi -
Congratulations. Just wonderful Kiwi.

Financial Rape and Plunder of the World

Hello there folk. I feel like ranting about life a little, as I have no where else really to go but here, so here goes. I am getting so feed up trying to find a job, having enough money to eat, and stay happy at the same time, while watching others who it seems, are struggling too, but doesn,t stop them from doing all the normal things. I have worked so hard, for years, at horse jobs, and still struggle to put shoes on my feet. Now do not get me wrong , I do not dislike those folk, or hate them, but just wish that I could do the same thing. Watching others going off to family gathering gets depressing , you know. Every where I have gone, no sorry no work going, another one today, and you know that is finally starting to wear me out. I am a fairly strong person, but these days I am becoming weaker with all the doom and gloom on TV and Radio. I was wishing for the leather to help me a little, but again that does not seem to have worked either. Maybe I should not have listened to my friends at the time. I guess the lord has other plans for me,just wish I knew what. OH well too late now. On the bright side I have posted a few things on EBAY, thanks to what you folk said here, and hope that the lord will pull out a miracle for me. So how many of you others, need to GET IT OFF YOUR CHEST like I just did. I feel way better now. Seems we all need to release our feelings good or bad ,now and then, don't you think. Wow What a rant, sorry . Think I have beat him enough. Thanks all you leather friends for having this site and having a ranting post.. Next time I will be happier. Happy carving to you all. Kiwi. -
Wonderful saddle. Yep I think will make a good saddler too. Kiwi

The finished picture in my Profile picture. Indian.
kiwidownunder replied to kiwidownunder's topic in Figure Carving
Thanks for the feed back. I wasn't trying to tease really, but that is rather funny, the timing was perfect.. I have SLOW old dial up AOL, and have alot of trouble some days getting the uploads done. Like today I lost connection in the middle, and so did not know if it got there or not. Glad it did. Very frustrating. Again Thanks and am very glad you are not bored!!!!!!!!!. Kiwi -
I thought that I would share with you all the finished picture that I have as my profile pic. It is an indian praying to the moon god and wolf. I did him a while ago now, and I have to say I still miss looking at him after he sold. I gave him a full head dress of feathers and fringing, complete with the beading on his cloak. It was about 36" x 28". I can see a few things that I would change now but he sure was fun to create. Hope you like it. If you get bored seeing these just let me know. Happy carving guys. Kiwi.
