How to save time and money by investing in machines
Thescandall replied to chrisash's topic in How Do I Do That?
That’s a hellova investment to start out with but I can see the benefits of the technology. Very cool -
Vovo. I searched your threads and found yours. It led me down a worm hole to a bunch of very useful info and videos. That singer manual is awesome compared to the military ones I have. Also Uwe and Constabularys knowledge is super valuable. Hope to sort things out this afternoon when I get back to the ranch. I will post up later with a video of the full machine, table and motor set up I have done. It’s my first one and I can already feel the addiction setting in. I just need to find another cool machine to mess with now.

Thanks Brian. I will probably go ahead and get one. And will get in touch with you for the folder pieces. It wasn’t that bad when I got the narrow feed dog and plate from you on shipping.

I kinda figured being of Chinese origin that it would have some cheap stuff thrown in the mix. I have one of those table mounted aluminum pull it thru strap cutters. But it’s only 1 at a time and finicky as hell. I have never mastered the wooden block one either , I waste a lot of leather with those. It would be nice to just flip a switch and let it feed thru.. thanks for the review. I’m not sold yet but if it says Tandy or cowboy on it I can’t afford it. At 350 I can.

10-4. Will try it tomorrow when I get back to the ranch.

It sews great but leaves a bad skid mark. 111w155 alternating presser foot not doing squat. Took a video. By the way this new table and motor I built is really nice. Talk about control. Any way. What the heck is going on here.

i guess they are all made the same and branded different. i don't think these come with the little folder attachments tho. ill have to look and see if i can find them for sale. thanks Rocky

I’ve noticed a few I guess Chinese strap cutters on Amazon and eBay. The are green mostly and the cost is between 350.00 and 450.00. I make a few belts here and there and may need straps in the future. Does anyone have or use one. if so. Any feedback would be great. Here is a link to one. https://www.amazon.com/Cutting-Electric-Leather-Slitter-Machine/dp/B088MGG345/ref=asc_df_B088MGG345/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=563785737119&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=16388222981734403371&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9027794&hvtargid=pla-1827230766632&psc=1

Probably hold em up forever. Heavy duty. -
While on the tractor mowing the pasture I thought to myself, I’ve been working on this 111w155 for a couple weeks instead of making stuff , so I went in the shop and cut me a belt strap ((buying a crank strap cutter now ) and just wanted to make a belt. 8oz veg tanned with a 4oz liner. Nothing fancy. i got the 111w155 working but didn’t want to test it on this so I used the 5100 and 207 thread.

Klara , He will and it’s smooth. But right now he's being a pasture ornament cuz I’m too busy to ride him. Building a house and full time job keeps me moving.
-
Well I’ve got a new machine now. I feel as tho I went thru a college class reading and watching vids. It sews!!! And fairly good at that. 10 oz veg tanned. . Need to do a little foot adjustment now and it’s a belt maker. Tedious stuff. Put it together , then take it back apart only to put it back together. Sigh!!!!!

He’s supposed to be a Tennessee Walker and all sporty and stuff. Not much different than a hog tho.

Bullit hates the water hose but loves mud holes. Makes it tough on me. I doubt I’ll ever make him anything fancy. Kinda pointless

Turns out there is a grove I can see daylight through. No way there can ever be tension on the bobbin. So I ordered new springs and a new bobbin case. Waiting on the mail again. But I did pull the belt, timed it and I’m ready for the parts.
-
Yes the motor is correct. It’s just I turned the stitch selection past the stop I think. I turned it back and the stitches are going the correct way. I’ll check out the tension spring and see if it’s grooved. thanks for the reply.

After reading the manual 2 times and watching UWEs videos on timing. I think I have it figured out now. One problem I’m having is that when lining up the arrows on the timing while the lift arm is all the way up. The arrows are not exactly lined up. I have to turn the balance wheel a tad and the lift arm is not quite all the way up. Is this a problem. It’s close but not exact. I have a new belt if needed. Also the stitch length adjustment is kinda weird. I can make it stitch backwards for some reason. I guess I’m turning it too far. I thought it was supposed to stop at both ends of the selections. Top stitch looks great but I’m not getting the knot pulled up on bottom at all and I have the tension so tight I can’t turn it anymore. The bobbin tension is almost non existent super easy to pull. I know there is an answer to this issue and have looked at length to find a solution. I think part of the problem is I may have been using the wrong terminology in searches. I’m new to this sewing machine world but willing to jump in with both feet.. any help would be appreciated.

I got the table built and motor installed. Got lucky and the knee lift wasn’t in the way. Took a piece of strap leather and wrapped it around the outside of the pulleys and it came out to 40 “ . So I bought a 3L 400 belt and will try it on tomorrow. Looking forward to watching it run. Not quite the machine my Techsew 5100 is but it’s a really comfortable setup and should be a great tool. I’ll try to get it stitching correct this weekend.

i have that roller. it came on the machine . the shaft was a little bent from sitting on it, instead of it being taken off. but this machine sat for years, really decades i would guess. i purchased a knee lift kit that works great altho i put it on before the motor so it might have to come off. until after i install the motor tomorrow .. i thought that little roller was cool too. it was kinda froze up but a little scrubbing and oil and it freed right up. this place is a wealth of info for someone like me having never even wondered how a sewing machine works.. absolutely clueless till a couple months ago. hell computers were magic until i was about 45. at 63 now sewing machines are.. someone must have been racking their brain to even come up with the concept. this little machine seems more complicated than my 5100 for some reason, i guess because it aint broke. lol Bob i see the difference in the hinges now. They do look stronger than these, but if these work im fine.. as far as the gap behind my drive wheel i cant say. mine has that 3/8 spacer also.. hmmm

page 36 of 41 shows the needle bar and the part it hooks to. that's where to find the part. i know there have been a few looking for it also.. Cambell/ Randall has them.... bought 2..

ok i think this is it 200086ALX 16720 Needle Bar Connecting Stud Pinch Screw, for 208552. im saving that parts you sent link in my favorite places.
-
Bob. You are the man. Everyone talks about how great to work with you have been and I have to admit they are right. I might get this machine to stitchin after all now. Thanks again. I notice that particular # is not on the parts list tho. No wonder it’s so hard to find. It looks like that is the thread guide screw. I need the one that clamps the needle bar inside the head.

I listen to the local Crockett Texas AM radio station. I get country music, local farm news and church on Sunday mornings. Also the local high school sports games on Friday night. Yippee. Ohh and it’s the only station I get in a metal shop. Unless ya speak Spanglish
