Legal Issues Selling Holsters
colttrainer replied to troppy's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
I would be caring liability insurance. Not sure about south of the 49th. But in canada if you are making and selling goods & a failer or design fault results in injury you can be found liable. For that reason forming a limited company is well worth the time & expence. Covers your personal assets in case of law suit. -

Like those alot. Very nice work. Good looking knives. Al -
The way I look at it the craft tools are the least expensive way to start. You can buy loads of tools so you can figure out what you enjoy doing the most. When you have that figured out & have figured out how to use them & what results can be obtained, then you can replace the ones you need to with upper end tool & still have all the others to either modify or do those odd projects that you normally don't. And if you decide that tooling leather isn't for you, you have a lot less tied up. Just my 2 cents for what it is worth. Al

Good day all Hope I got this in the right spot. When I do any beveling I get a nice burnished finish except right at the bottom of the cut, i always seem to have a white line. 1) am I making my cuts to deep 2) is the leather to wet If my cuts are to deep what do I do to get nice deep bevels, just strike the tool harder? Thanks Al

Myself I wouldn't change it at all. Nice to see something a little different for a change. Not enough people thinking out side the box. Al

I bet if you got a hold of the stampede board or northlands (in conjunction with the finals) you could set something up. Al -

Welcome I will say that the key thing needed is deep, deep pockets!!! LOL. Once you get hooked there is always something you new you want to try & something new you want or need to by. Its fun, relaxing & we have to spend our money on something can't take it with us. Have fun.

Let me clarify what I meant by handing them out like candy. I don't just give them to everyone. But when a happy customer leaves they leave with a hand ful of cards. I will also leave cards with other businesses that have a clientel simalar to mine (if they will allow it) and I return the favor. Al

I was going to stay out of this, But I keep reading. So here goes all have good points, some maybe don't make sense to me, but who am I. But after having worked all my life as self employed, I do know that what is on the card ( design, info etc. ) is by far the most important, if you can achieve the look you want at home on a inexpensive card that is great, some may not. I my self pass cards out like they cost nothing, the more that are out the better the chances. Somebody said they are a tax write off, yes they are but rule one you have to make money to be able to write them off. So the less I have to spend the less I have to make! AL

Mark I like that! Nice clean lines. Good cowboy using piece, that stands out. AL

Charlie I agree with you 100%. It is to bad that most people these days have to have every thing bigger, better & fancier than the next person. An older gentleman told me those people are unhappy with their lives.

Holster Sewing Machines - Lets Talk
colttrainer replied to olliesrevenge's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Lance I fully agree with Art. Buy a 441 clone first. I just invested in one, & since then I have seen loads of machines in the class you are looking at come up for sale. Best decission I made in along, time as I can see that I would have been very disappointed with less machine & still having to resort back to hand stitching way to often. Al -

Sounds like the harness leather I get. Al -
Every one has a opinion, All I have seen so far on this site is every one trying to justify why their opinion is the right one. That is so sad to see. You all have a good day, this was the last straw as they say. I won't bother with people that are that closed minded.

I don't know about anybody else, but I DO NOT base my buying decision on the quality of there business cards. I want to see what they are capable of doing not their printer.
