I've had alot of customers asking for this Pinwheel pattern so I figured I might as well ask.

Well after taking six months off from my hobby I have finally made something. They aren't much to "show off" though. These are simple coin purses from a Wuta pattern. Very simple construction and quick to bang out. The burgundy ones are 4-5 horween horse butts and the brown ones are 2-3 horse fronts. I got both from Maverick. Hardware was Tandy clearance. I did these for a church craft fair. They should last forever. I'm thinking ten bucks is reasonable. What do y'all think? Anywho, enjoy.

Guide to Making an Exotic Leather Coin Purse
cicftaiwan posted a blog entry in Fischer Workshops Blog
This popular folding coin purse design makes for a great leather project. Small enough to conveniently store in your pocket or purse but able to store a large amount of coins in. It also opens up nice and wide so you can get what you need quickly and easily. To add value and beauty to the purse I have used several types of exotic leather for aesthetics through the circular cutout of the purse frame. I have used both alligator skin and gazelle hide as examples for this tutorial. A PDF pattern with a detailed list of leather types, tools, and products used in this project can be downloaded from Fischer Workshops. Just click on the following link to be directed to the download page...Exotic Leather PDF Pattern DownloadI have also published a video tutorial to demonstrate the step by step process I go through in making the purse. The video is only 10 minutes long, but it took me about 2 hours to complete this project. I chose to stain the leather by hand which is the longest process in making the purse. I suppose if you bought pre-stained leather you could finish this project in about an hour. To see the video just click on the link below... Thanks and Enjoy!-

Thought I'd show off a piece that involves several firsts for me. Tboyce was generous enough to make and share this pattern for a coin pouch,so it was my first time using a member's pattern here. I also just got my dixon pricking irons and awl, so it was my firsttime using them. Also my first time using the stitching pony that I just finished making today. Also just got the mahogony dye and used that.Oh, also just got those snaps and used them for the first time. Considering all these firsts, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out! Whoops, forgot that the tooling was done with new tools too! This will be a gift to my dad. The anchor is from the Rhode Island state flag.

My daughter had requested a new purse as hers had gotten rather disreputable. She requested it as a crossbody bag. I used some designer lambskin I got a while back at Tandy, but used a dyed veggie tan for the strap. It is lined but the pic I got of the inside before I gave it to her is too dark to show much detail. Does anyone know what the longevity of these specialty leathers with the smooth finish is likely to be?

These are a couple of the things I made as Christmas gifts I thought I would share. The card wallets are made of goatskin and are really light. I am really pleased with them. The coin purses are of a lambskin with a patent type finish. Makes them look a little more showy than the other ones I have done like this.
