Hi there, I'm currently working on a cosplay of this character, Guts, from the hit manga Berserk. I'm looking to commission someone to recreate all the leather equipment shown on this character's outfit. If anyone can point me in the right direction, or maybe even offer to make this piece for me, that would be fantastic. I am based in the UK so UK orders would be more preferable. Cheers, Gav

Archery arm guard with contemplative samurai scene and kanji for "heijoshin" (constant peace of mind) and "bushido" (way of the warrior). Airbrushed and handbrushed paint. Antique finish to accent lines. 8/9 oz veg-tan lined with black pigskin. Looks best flat, before laced with black ties and formed. Tailored for my wrist and forearm measurements.

So I don't know if this is the right place to ask for help but I have searched the entire internet for either similar boots or someone I could commission to make them for me. I'm looking for something based off of these: I wouldn't expect them to be exact because this is not a real picture but I really love these boots and I want something similar. If anyone could help with this or help me find someone who can that would be amazing. Price isn't an issue. My email is jacklynlemay (at) gmail.com Thank you!!

I want to make more costume and armor pieces, and right now my wife wants me to make her a hood (she calls it an Assassins Creed hood) so she can cosplay her rogue from Pathfinder at the Renaissance Festival this year. And I have some really good lambskin I think will work, I just ... don't know how to do it. Are there patterns available for this sort of thing? Not just hoods but other clothing too. I don't mind paying a little bit for a good pattern as long as it doesn't cost a fortune. TIA.

Well it's been nearly a year since I first got into leather working. This is my most recent project, a leather cuirass with a matching oversized belt.

I got my Critical Role (a D&D podcast / Twitch show) costume 2/3 complete in time for DragonCon this past weekend in Atlanta. I posted the boots before, but folks were interested in the entire thing, so here it is! The character, Percy de Rolo, is a gunslinger. Most people go with a steampunk / "weird west" vibe, but I came up with a design that has 17th/18th century and older influences. Breastplate: Artwork by a friend, I cheated here and used a v-gouge for wood carving so I could have the entire thing done in a day. I need to do some edge lacing or other finishing on all the chrome tan it's affixed to. Was originally gonna be all layered vegtan, but needed a slimmer profile because this will eventually go under a coat. Gun things: Made a rifle sling and a flintlock holster, the latter in my hotel room, ha ha. The brass spots are aged a bit with vinegar and salt to give them a slight patina. Boots: Articulated sabatons with greaves on top of equestrian boots with some ridiculous spur leathers. I learned the hard way to put some threadlock in my chicago screws (only popped a couple at stress points and had spares in my pockets). Pauldron: Designed inspired by a Musketeers TV show. It pulled a bit at my breastplate, so it's getting some rigging modifications. Wool is dyed scrap and I had fun getting it dark enough. Bits and bobs: A few other leather things (like my plague doctor mask, belt, bandolier, and neck stock) and some fun props, like a powder horn (soon to get some scrimshaw) and some black powder "apostles" turned out of wood. This was my first big costume build (made almost entirely from water damaged leather I got from Craigslist) and I'm excited to finish the rest! Most of what's left to make is clothing and guns, but I do plan to make a fancy leather gauntlet for V2.

All handmade veg-tan leather mask. "Fire Wolf" is a half mask, painted after the carving, tooling and forming. I can custom make masks.

I'm attempting to get into leatherworking to make leather armor for a number of reasons and for a number of different uses -Larping - In this use it must be durable as people will be wearing and using it. I'd like to be able to do fantasy based and historically accurate (two different categories) as people request it. -Cosplay - This would be purely cosmetic things. Primarily fantasy oriented pulled from games. -Steampunk - This one's kind of my baby it falls into both the previous uses mostly I'd like to know how to affix the heavier objects (gauges and things of this nature that are "top heavy") without having to worry about them falling off I'm having several issues getting into it. I visited my local Tandy merchant he was less then useful not knowing how to go about nor having any ideas on how to go about making armor (though I did pick up a few books on treating and sewing leather as well as making cases). I havn't been able to find any information on how to actually get or use a pattern. The cosplay info I've found has used many different materials which I should be able to sub for leather in most cases but it's not all that helpful anyway. I cannot find any real information on making historically accurate leather armor at all. Ultimately I'm just looking for information and some patterns with some how to's to get me started. A few questions. Do I need to go about getting forms and if so how do I get them? I'm a larger guy is there an adjustable form somewhere I can get as I can't really use my body to make armor for other people what with being six and a half feet tall and I'd love to be making the armor for other people. I've got lots of ideas for spaulders and pauldrons, bracers and shin guards but nothing for how to do a helmet, body, or feet where can I find some info on these? Are there any really useful odd's and ends that I aught to be looking for to grab that aren't strictly leatherworking ie. I've seen references to vacuuming for masks? How do I go about taking measurements for the various body parts of a person? With a form it's not as hard but it is generic and I'd like to be making custom things for my friends so how do I do this? I'm especially worried about the female form esp. around the chest area. How do I know what kind of leather (both animal and gauge) to use on a specific project? Are there any books I aught to look at getting that would be helpful? A couple good things. I'm very close to a Tandy store and several tannery's so leather isn't an issue. Money isn't a big issue as this is something I've wanted to do for a long time and have no problem spending money to get into the hobby.

Hi All, I just recently went live with my Etsy store called "Axis Leatherworks". I just recently got into the leatherworking and have spent the last few months learning and crafting Nerf holsters and accessories. My target market is for the LARPer and cosplayers as well as Nerf enthusiasts of all ages. I utilized many of the resources posted by others here on the forums as well as the many Etsy store resources available online to get the store up and running. https://www.etsy.com...xisLeatherworks I would appreciate any input and feedback you could provide in regards to the stores’ layout, item descriptions, photos , policy descriptions, tag usage, etc. I want make sure the website looks and feels as professional as possible to a user. Thanks ahead for the help! - Dan

Hello all, I'm looking for ideas that won't look to goofy. Let me explain the project first. I am making an animatronic Griffin for a friend for Cosplay. The controls for which will be in a Falconer's glove she will be wearing. The idea is for the Griffin to lay over her shoulder with paws gripping in front, and back paws hanging off in back (the tail is going to swish too) She should still be able to bend down so little kids can pet it (I'm using rabbit fur on the outside so it will be very soft.) Below, I've attached a very simple line drawing of what I have in mind for the Griffin's "perch", but now how to attach it to a person without looking to bad. The easiest method is a straight strap under the opposite arm, but the friend is, shall we say busty, and it just does not look right to have a strap there. So, I thought I would ask here for ideas here. Btw, the Griffin, when completed, will weight at most 1.5-2 lbs, and will be secured underneath to the leather shoulder cover. I don't have to hide any wires, because I opted to use a remote control instead of wires. Any suggestions would be great, Thanks!
