Hello Everyone! I came across a leather wallet in an antique store that caught my eye and I really love it! I have been trying to find some information about the company so I could also perhaps determine the age of the wallet. The antique dealer said that the person who brought it in focuses a lot on items from the 1920s so it could possibly be from that time. I am hoping that someone from England perhaps knows of some info or resources that could help me track down the history of it. I appreciate any help I can get. I'm also amazed at the condition this is in if it is indeed about 100 years old! I also really love the patina on it. I plan on restoring it a touch to get it back into functional condition and I will actually use the wallet! Here's what I have found out so far: 1. Stamp inside says, "Bohanna & Tasker Co Manchester" 2. Internet search found a book titled "The Commercial Directory And Shippers Guide" from 1879 where it mentions that the company is a wholesaler and has two locations in Manchester. 3. Unverified info that it came from the 1920s Hopefully this link works (I wasn't able to upload the images on this because of the size limit so hopefully you're able to see it with the link)

Unverified dating of around the 1920s, Bohanna & Tasker Co were a wholesaler company based in Manchester, Liverpool, England. Still researching information about them -

I have two large bins with rolls of high quality leather tanned in England. Colors range from Dark Havana, newmarket, to london. Bridle, rein, and stirrup weights. These are the butt leathers of the highest quality. In these bins are also a couple sheepskins, roo-hides. There are are matching lightweight lining strips for some of the leather. I was going to be making halters. I also have the solid brass halter hardware and the stainless steel stirrup buckles. I am open to offers. There is well over 1k worth of hides and materials here. I just moved to PA, so everything is packed up in bins. If interested, please email tielz1@hotmail.com

hello All! My name is Mark Rowney. I have been working and carving leather for 25 years now. I am self taught and still learning. I am passionate about Contemporary rural Art and endeavour to combine my enthusiasm for leather work and evoke my love of nature. I primarily make bespoke leather journal covers and some other original and one-off items. I also paint and sell enough to enable me to buy new hides, JUST! I live and work in the Durham dales, Northern England. My influences are the Bees that sting me, the Midges that bite me and the birds that sing so sweetly. My goal is to understand my soul that I may best illustrate a wonderful life spent in the high meadows and hay fields that surround our old stone farmhouse. I look forward to meeting and hearing from the fellow leather workers that share this imaginative site. As William Morris said...."One should only own what is truly useful or beautiful". I hope you find enjoyment in my work. http://www.rowneyart.com http://rowneyart.blogspot.com
