westernatelier posted a topic in Clothing, Jackets, Vests and Chaps
MY FIRST COBRA CREATION!!!! Completely sewn on my Cobra Class 18!!! This is me in the pics rockin something I made...feels good to say that (and that its a perfect fit)!!!.I DID IT!!!! This is such a proud moment for me.It feels good to accomplish a project when you find a new hobby! I have spent the last couple months turning two leather hides, deer skin lacing, sequins, and handmade turquoise satin piping into my own custom creation!!! This chrome finished peplum leather jacket has blood, sweat, and tears rolled into it and I couldnt be more proud to finally showcase something I made (the first thing Ive made) from scratch all by myself!- 6 replies

New Bag I finished for a customer. Its not for everyone, but he asked for it and it came out nice I think. False buckle with parachute clip behind buckle strap. So buckle is secured but it quick releases which is cool.

Greetings from SF. I have a small leather studio in SF (www.markhanks.net) where I make leather bags and accessories for both women and men. My focus is on the Euro style of leather craft. I hope to be able to share/gain knowledge and sources with other folks on the site. I also offer lessons, make prototypes for other designers/entrepreneurs, and do small production runs. Here are some of my projects, including some clutches where I have used an inlay technique that I have been developing lately. Happy making!

I'm just working on some new designs which I've called Geom Bags. I'm using fabric and goats skin (suede) for these. They will be about 34cmX25cm and lined with silk. Really hope they turn out!! I'll post the final bags once they are ready... hopefully in a few days. I'm always waiting for something to arrive in the mail haha... glue... or bag hardware... interfacing... never ends. :-)) https://kymberlysteel.wordpress.com

Hello Everyone! My wife and I are moving to Europe, so currently we have a small stock of Fashion Leathers, as well as some hardware. The leathers are Chrome Tanned, hardware is Solid brass and we also have a big batch of RiRi Zippers. If you're interested, please don't hesitate to ask for prices, more pictures or further description - we can work out a great deal that could benefit both sides. Obviously, due to import and shipping fees, buyers from Mexico are preferred! Thanks for checking! p.s.: Please don't mind the notations in Hungarian - the images were taken from our brochure for a client in Hungary

Album here - http://imgur.com/a/2FUDZ#0 This was my first attempt at making belts. I've been doing this as a hobby for about 8 months now. My stamping got off a bit with his name, but other than that I'm pretty happy. My wife asked me to make the fashion belt for her. It proved to be a challenge with the petal layout because my rivets were only long enough to go through the belt and one layer of petals, not two petals.

This morning the Farming Today program on BBC Radio 4 ( in the UK) was about the relationship between the fashion industry and farming. There was some interesting stuff on the preparation of hides to leather and also why leather prices have risen so steeply! The link below is good for seven days (iPlayer) and you can also download it as a 'podcast'. It should work in the USA???? http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b04j9ym3

Hello there, I am the owner and designer/maker for my brand Ò Faoláin. I work out of Arkansas and show in NYC and LA. This is a really great forum and I'm very excited to be connected with so many other talented individuals. I began leatherwork when I was 12, making Venetian styled masquerade masks from scrap leather from repairing saddles at a local feed store where I grew up. That turned into leather bags and accessories etc. The hobby became my passion and is now my career. I love what I do and I'm looking forward to learning some tips and tricks from other artisans and to expand my knowledge on the subject as well as have good conversation about the craft with other artists. If you would like to see any of my work, the galleries on my website have some of my previous and recent works. www.OFaolainLeather.com facebook.com/ofaolainleather I have a few questions I will be asking shortly as soon as I figure out this site navigation and find the appropriate placement of questions. Thank you for your time and I look forward to being a part of this community.

This is my kick starter Project! Check it out and pledge! help make this dream come true! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/905865110/wolves-leather April of 2013 I quit my construction job and moved to downtown Pittsburgh to officially start my leather working business called “Wolves Leather”. I really enjoy working with my hands where I can create a quality product for everyday use. All of my products are my own design and are all made by hand including the stitching. Everyone benefits from quality products which is why I strive to craft the best leather goods that I can so that they will be used enjoyed for years to come. Today I have my dad's leather coat he wore 40 years ago and I have my grandfather's leather boots he wore 60 years ago. A leather product can be passed on from generation to generation giving it amazing sentimental value, which is priceless.
