Hi all, im currently looking for a spots setting machine, an auto one would be great. I’ve been doing spots work for the leather time. Studded leather belts, bags and wallets and many many more etc. Some belts designs I work around with are similar to the idea of HTC Hollywood trading company. If there is anyone who has a machine to sell off. Pls do let me know. Thank you

I have had several pieces of veg tan that have these spots that come to light after I apply the dye. I make sure the leather is fully dry before application and I just don’t know how to prevent this or predict when it will happen. Dies anybody know what this is or how to combat this problem?

Any ideas on where I can find nickel-plated brass 3/16” flat head two-prong (at least 1/4” long) spots? Some 1/4” would be awesome as well. Thanks for any help you can offer!

I am getting more orders for items lined with spots. I do not do well setting a long line of spots consistently by hand. Is the Weaver Little Wonder the best machine to set spots? Will it set them easily and consistently? I don't mind spending the money, I just want to get the job done with much less trouble than it is now.

I've taken up leatherworking as a hobby and recently made a dog collar for my daughter's boxer. After a month I noticed the spots lost their shine, and also the D ring (which was nickel covered) turned a pinkish--maybe copper color. I'm not sure where this hardware came from, possibly Tandy, but what is the best finish to buy to retain the spots shine. Thank you in advance for your advice.

I have a hand press with an assortment of dies for sale. This press is still being manufactured, so the dies are readily available. Minkus Margo sells over 50 types and sizes of dies that include dies for setting snaps, grommets, eyelets, punching holes in leather, setting rivets, setting spots aka nailheads, setting spikes, and setting lots of shapes of decorative rivets. Allstarco also sells dies that fit this press. The brass dies listed here are from Allstarco. They are used for setting rim sets for adding crystal rhinestones to your projects. They also work great for setting spots. This is a great press and I would recommend it for anyone who wants to add decorative elements to their projects. I am a full time professional leather worker. I bought the press and dies when I was starting out. I'm only selling it because I am investing in a larger multi feed foot press so I can work more efficiently. Here is a listing of what is included along with the retail value Hand Press - $114 7mm die for setting spots (approximately 1/4") - $34.99 6mm die for setting rhinestone chatons - $52.99 7mm die for setting rhinestone chatons - $52.99 8mm die for setting rhinestone chatons - $52.99 10mm die for setting rhinestone chatons - $52.99 6 mm die for setting rhinestone rivets - $39.99 Brass die for SS 20 rim set rhinestones - $38 Brass die for SS 30 and SS34 rim set rhinestones - $38 Unopened bag of 300 7mm spots - $10.50 I will send along the crystal chatons that are left for you to practice with. I'm new to the forum, but hoping for some help. I made my wife a checkbook cover using Eco-Flo dye and Finish. The other day she got caught in the rain and the cover got a few drops on it. I'm not sure why she was writing a check in the rain, but now the cover has spots on it. I tested some scraps using two or three coats of Super Shene. I also tried some neatsfoot oil. The dye bled every where I put a drop of water. Any advice would be much appreciated.

While finishing the edges of a project today (50/50 resolene/water on top of Angelus leather dye) I had to walk away suddenly and some foam sitting on top of the piece dried and caused spotting. It is still there after completing the finishing and I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions for removing, or at least lessening, the appearance of these spots. There are several in other areas as well. Thanks for your help!
