Hello, I am new here and as a "business card, I wanted to share my most complex work, it's a mask but there are a few techniques and materials that you might not know about, also some kinda complicated molding and I made a full video for how it is built. I hope you will enjoy it.

Made this wine bottle holder/tote as a Christmas gift for a friend. Pretty simple design and wanted to give it some sort of vintage look. I haven't decided if I'm going to make a strap or just leave the rings on the side for decoration.

Here are some of the steampunk items I taught for a class at Tandy Leather. It is a series where every month I do a new piece. It is a lot of fun and everything is made of leather, but a couple of rivets. hope you guys like them.

I haven't posted in quite awhile, but wanted to show a little progress thanks to those I've conferred with here. Attached is a "steampunk" styled phone holster/wallet sized to fit an iPhone 6+. It's all hand cut, tooled and sewn out of veg-tanned 4-5 oz leather, and finished in tan gel antique. The front pocket is large enough to hold an ID, some cards and cash, so it's essentially a minimalist wallet one can wear on their belt. Thanks for looking, and thanks for your feedback!

I just finished a large steampunk rhinoceros mask and wanted to share it with you all. It is made of 5-6 oz veg tan with cold cast aluminum metal parts. Best, Tom

I'm attempting to get into leatherworking to make leather armor for a number of reasons and for a number of different uses -Larping - In this use it must be durable as people will be wearing and using it. I'd like to be able to do fantasy based and historically accurate (two different categories) as people request it. -Cosplay - This would be purely cosmetic things. Primarily fantasy oriented pulled from games. -Steampunk - This one's kind of my baby it falls into both the previous uses mostly I'd like to know how to affix the heavier objects (gauges and things of this nature that are "top heavy") without having to worry about them falling off I'm having several issues getting into it. I visited my local Tandy merchant he was less then useful not knowing how to go about nor having any ideas on how to go about making armor (though I did pick up a few books on treating and sewing leather as well as making cases). I havn't been able to find any information on how to actually get or use a pattern. The cosplay info I've found has used many different materials which I should be able to sub for leather in most cases but it's not all that helpful anyway. I cannot find any real information on making historically accurate leather armor at all. Ultimately I'm just looking for information and some patterns with some how to's to get me started. A few questions. Do I need to go about getting forms and if so how do I get them? I'm a larger guy is there an adjustable form somewhere I can get as I can't really use my body to make armor for other people what with being six and a half feet tall and I'd love to be making the armor for other people. I've got lots of ideas for spaulders and pauldrons, bracers and shin guards but nothing for how to do a helmet, body, or feet where can I find some info on these? Are there any really useful odd's and ends that I aught to be looking for to grab that aren't strictly leatherworking ie. I've seen references to vacuuming for masks? How do I go about taking measurements for the various body parts of a person? With a form it's not as hard but it is generic and I'd like to be making custom things for my friends so how do I do this? I'm especially worried about the female form esp. around the chest area. How do I know what kind of leather (both animal and gauge) to use on a specific project? Are there any books I aught to look at getting that would be helpful? A couple good things. I'm very close to a Tandy store and several tannery's so leather isn't an issue. Money isn't a big issue as this is something I've wanted to do for a long time and have no problem spending money to get into the hobby.

*Steampunk mode on* The Engineers Belt and Pouch is an upgrade to the original Airship Engineers pouch with more space for tools, Aether cylinders and equipment. Pouch has a soft suede gusset with a roomy interior and simple leather latch. Belt has one large loop for tools, two smaller loops suitable for cylinders or shotgun shells and four D-rings to attach other items. */steampunk mode* I gave this a rag-dyed finish for an aged look - actually it's kitchen towel, crumple it up and use water-based dye and it comes out lovely and mottled. The edges are not brilliant, this is quite thin, 1.8-2mm leather and this section just didn't want to burnish. I'll go back over it with some gum trag when it's fully dry. I originally did this as a standalone belt pouch but my wife wanted a belt to go with it for the days when she wants a pouch ("WHY don't womens jeans have pockets!" is a phrase I hear a lot...) but doesn't want a belt on whatever she's wearing so I made this one. Last pic is the original pouch. Oh, and sorry about the omnipresent watermarks, I've had issues with some pics being used on another site so I do this for everything I post now.

This didn't turn out quite as expected but I was pleased with the depth of the 3d stamping. I have the Osborne hand press and using the Tandy rams foot with it ( as suggested on the Zeilkovitz site) to do the steampunk stamps worked really well. Thought I would mention it in case others were unaware that it could be used that way, as I was.

This is my first time "showing off" anything, but I thought a few of you might get a kick out of these beer holsters I made this week. I know there are a ton of people making them, and I thought I might be able to put my own spin on it. The way I have them sized they hold cans (short and tallboy), bottles, water bottles, and also my large bottle of contacts solution I carry around. Ha. Constructive criticism is welcome and thank you guys for your time.

Hello everyone, I'm new at this, so sorry if I ramble a little I'm a year 12 textiles student and for my major work I'm crating a Steampunk inspired leather dress. The dress will have a large skirt and a corset top. I want the leather to be quite sturdy, but I'm working with a regular sewing machine so it can't be too thick. I'm really just wondering if anyone can offer any advice on what sort of leather I should think about using (actually any advice at all would be hugely helpful). I need the leather to be supple, to allow freedom of movement, but I also want it to look quite sturdy. All advice will be taken and considered, I'd really appreciate any help you can give Thankyou.

Hello everybody, I've been thinking of getting into leather working as a hobby, but also to fulfill my obsession with steampunk things. I have no idea where to start though. I would like to develop the skills necessary to make really cool steampunk masks, bracers, belts, hats, etc. but I don't mind starting small. Can you guys help me figure out what I need to get started? What tools should I get and what kind of leather? I do have a fairly low budget, can I get started with less than fifty dollars, or will I have to save up more before I can even start? Thanks in advance
