Flag Case

Recommended Posts

Today I finished my flag case.  I'll be using this case to carry my flag for Patriot Guard Rider missions to stand Flag Lines at the funerals of veterans.  Overall I'm fairly happy with the results even though there are a few things that I would do differently if I ever do something like this again.  For example, I should have used center-bar buckles for the top cap instead of heel-bar buckles.  Thanks again to those who offered feedback when I initially posted this idea in the discussion area.

Had to split into two posts because of size limitations.

Beautiful work!

That is a hefty amount of basket weave that goes into that case!
It is impressive how much the flag stands out being painted, that effect couldn't have been replicated if you had painted the rest of the case. It gives such a great statement!

Now you just need to figure out an appropriate answer when the rest of the PGR members asks you if you can make a similar case for them :You_Rock_Emoticon:

I'm speechless! :jawdropper: Really beautiful piece of work. Thanks for sharing with us from beginning to completion. Your choices along the way, proved to be the right ones imo.

Very nice work my friend! We can always see "mistakes " that others will never notice, or consider them priceless evidence of a handmade item. Thank you for your continued service.

Thanks Mulesaw.  And thank you for your feedback also.  Yes, it was a lot of basket weave.  Doing that told me that I need a larger work area when I take on a project of this size.  Trying to fit that big (23" x 10.5") chunk of leather onto my little work area lead to a few of my "goofs".  But having all that basket weave also helps make the flag stand out, and that was really what I was after.

And the answer for the other PGR members is simple.  "I'll get right on that as soon as I clear off the other projects on my list."

Thanks.  First time in a long time with doing a project of this size, so having the feedback along the way helped.

Thanks Hags.  Even though I know where the mitsakes are even I can look past them when I look at the whole thing, so I guess they weren't all that bad.

BTW: a good friend of mine is a retired Army RN who is also retired from the VA Healthcare system.  She was the one who got me to apply for my VA benefits.
