Chest Holster - Thanks Hags

I have been wanting a chest holster for my Blackhawk Flattop 44 Special with 5.5" barrel. With the help of Hags I finally have one for it to ride in. This will help keep it high and dry in the Louisiana Swamps. Thanks Hags.

Thanks. Normally I would have used Chicago Screws there but did not have any on hand that were long enough and I needed it to wear for a hunt so I went with the rivets. Def not my first choice since its so final.

Very nice J! Glad it worked out. I've thought about rivets myself. Just ended up liking the movement you get with Chicago screws.  But, as you say, not final. You can always drill them out. I like what you did with the shoulder strap as well. I have gone to a different take on that as well.

I can still move my tabs even though they have the rivets. I was afraid they would get to tight but I made sure to not tighten them down all the way so that the straps can still move.

great job the rivets rock IMO they allow for some movement and don't come unscrewed and lost out in the middle of no where

Thanks. I prob. would have used screws if I had them on hand but the rivets are working out well.

That is outstanding. Simple and rugged. If you don’t mind show the back sometime to see how the straps connect. Also, are the quick disconnects on the right side available in metal? A friend wants me to replace some plastic ones that keep breaking. 

I wan one for my 10 inch barrel Blackhawk but I don’t have enough chest.

There may be metal attachments available. I would think there is. I have not used them if they are though.

I've never seen a metal quick disconnect - The photo looks like those are standard attachments for a backpack.  I think if you were needing the strength of metal, you have to re-work it for a regular buckle or a frog, like on a military rifle sling.  You could also possibly make a carabiner go through a loop of leather.  (Trying to think outside the box.)

Not for this, but for a carry bag for a Yeti water jug. This guy carries it every day and the plastic clips only last a few months. He takes it out every day to fill. I have seen steel ones but on old items.

I made one of these for a 6in 44mag over a year ago for a young man that is a timber cruiser up here the Olympic national forest.  He carries this gun almost daily for 8 to 10 hrs a day. He's come back for several axe sheaths, slings, other holsters,etc and always brings this one so I can see it. The plastic buckle has held up fine. It's not holding up the pistol, it's holding it close to the chest. See my post "one year later".

Exactly. I don't foresee the buckle being a problem. Its not under any real tension and I have other items that use similar buckles and they have worked fine for many years. Easy and cheap to replace if something does happen though.
