My initial thought was FUDGE!!! Someone has hacked LW.net!!!  and I started to curse and stuff. Then I looked at the screen and saw that it was still the well known categories and just the colours that have changed a bit

We got hacked Friday night. All member data is safe. This is just the default "skin" because I'm figuring out how to put humpty dumpty back together again. The server is running clean up tasks in the background, so the lag will clear up in a bit. I've got a list of things to take care of, but at 3 am I thought the board was gonna be toast. I was fortunate to have layers of updates this time, because they acted like bandaids and the hacker didn't get anything they wanted. I had to do a clean install, so the database, which is huge (700G) is still cleaning up. I expect to find broken links here and there- do me a favor and let me know if you're seeing other problems that aren't just "the look"right now. Thanks for your patience, everyone!

I hate that it got hacked, but I like this "clean" look.  It's brighter than I am.

Took a look this am and thought "wowser! A lotta work must have gone into getting this "clean" look!" I like it very much - very easy on the older eyes, especially since I use a tablet to access LW.NET.

If it could stay like this, then something good came out of the hacking, but I recognise it is not my call. 

Hope the @#&)(-/-#& hacker didn't cause too much damage otherwise

I'll paint the car when I'm sure the engine is running well. If you guys are noticing any issues please let me know. I'm checking everything, and there are all sorts of new things so I don't want to miss anything. Thanks for the kind words. We've got close to 20 years of info here, and it's because of leatherworkers from everywhere.

Johanna, you deserve a medal for all your effort!  This is arguably THE best resource on the 'net for leatherworkers. As for the "new look" it threw me into a spin at first, I wondered what Windoze had stuffed up now! While it's a "clean" look I'm eagerly awaiting the return of the old one, it feels more like an old friend.

I put the brown header back. Does that help? The logo isn't acting right and I'm leaving it off for now. What do you think of the ads? I think they are less intrusive not being all bunched up. Is anyone having any issues on a mobile device? Trying to sort everything out before I go on to the next thing.

@dikmanI was hoping the brown bar would help. People seem to like the lighter background, so let's try it for a bit? It's easy to change if we decide we don't like it anymore.

I'm really liking how it seems to fit on the phones better. You can collapse categories if you don't want to scroll too far. 

The server is still running clean up tasks in the background so I expect the search functions and some of the errors to resolve in the next day or two. The database is over 700G so it takes a while to process. 

What do you think of the emails? I just love the logo at the top.

Is anyone having problems getting their private messages? All of mine seem to be working and intact. Also you may want to check your notifications in your profile because there are different options now, and it looks like some folks got reset to default.

I don't like the sterile "new" look at all. Some times users can change their own template, which I went looking for before I knew what happened. Just too bright and white for me.

But it's the content that matters and everyone is grateful for what must be a massive restore, We'll adapt.

Like Al I'm not a fan of the look of it, to me it lacks the "warmth" of the old layout, but that's purely my opinion, if it makes it easier for others to use then I guess it's something to take into account.

Well done Jo. I "think" my old eyes are liking the cleaner look. Personally I'd like the ads to be less intrusive. You get so used to them being there. I know whenever I've needed stuff the top of the page is the last place I look. The space could be used for easier navigation, maybe to a more meaningful ad page. 

For  later maybe. You have enough on your plate right now.

Like @AlZilla says, it looks kind of sterile now. And the brown look just felt so cozy :-)
