Members shoepatcher Posted November 6, 2010 Members Report Posted November 6, 2010 (edited) As a member of this Forum and a long time sewer and sewing machine person, I was wondering if anyone out there has a list or book on the old Singer screws. I have later edtitions of the Singer screw books as well as the spec book on all the SS singer screws, nuts and rollers. I even have book containing the early Singer screws starting with Screw #1. What I am looking for is the book or books that have the specs on the screws, i.e. the pitch and diameter of a particular screw. Singer's numbers from #1-1500 were for screws, #1501-1800 was for nuts and #1801-2000 was for the rollers. Some selected screws which are still made are available in different sewing machine parts catalogues. Singer in Tennessee cannot even help me with this problem even though i knew they had these reference books available some 15 years ago when I needed the specs on a few screws. I got to believe someone has a copy of the early Singer screw specs book somewhere and i am very interested in getting a copy if at all possible. shoepatcher Edited November 6, 2010 by shoepatcher Quote
Members amuckart Posted December 3, 2010 Members Report Posted December 3, 2010 If you find this information, can you share? I'd give my eye teeth for a comprehensive catalogue of Singer screw specifications. Cheers. Quote -- Al. I'm going to need some screws for Singer machine and not sure where to look. I don't even have parts catalog for this model 168w101 I have tap/die kit's, is there any info on threads being used? Are those metric or SAE? Quote
Members dikman Posted February 11, 2019 Members Report Posted February 11, 2019 Extremely unlikely that they would be metric or SAE (or any other "standard" thread). Singer tended to use their own thread sizes. Quote Machines wot I have - Singer 51W59; Singer 331K4; Seiko STH-8BLD; Pfaff 335; CB4500. Chinese shoe patcher; Singer 201K (old hand crank)

Members katit Posted February 11, 2019 Members Report Posted February 11, 2019 Very interesting. I didn't even think it's possible but I guess it makes total sense. Any sources for hardware by PN? Also, is there any sources for part catalogs with part numbers? Quote

Members shoepatcher Posted February 12, 2019 Author Members Report Posted February 12, 2019 (edited) Jimi , I have certain ones from Singer. I am looking for the one that begins with screw #1. That screw was produced I believe beginning in about 1855 and then on we go. Later screw books started with #1 but continued up to screw #20000. I have the later books just not the early ones. Members Gregg From Keystone Sewing Posted February 12, 2019 Members Report Posted February 12, 2019 Now I'm interested. I guess you have to find what model machine would take a #1 screw, right? I've never seen screws with single digit part numbers, only double, but again, that why we're looking I guess? Members Yetibelle Posted February 12, 2019 Members Report Posted February 12, 2019 Here is the Singer Screw guide from 1890 on the Smithsonian page. It is a scan of the book but I bet someone can convert it to a PDF. http://www.sil.si.edu/DigitalCollections/Trade-Literature/Sewing-Machines/NMAHTEX/2734/index.htm Quote One day I hope to learn how to sew.....
