TOMAHAWK SHEATH

Trying a new item, missed a couple stamps with the tri weave, guess you have the Jim Beam AFTER stamping not during ! Anyway Im happy with the pattern and assembly. Originally went with a sam brown button but it was to hard to snap so switched to a line 24 snap. Made with 8oz english bridle and cut lace dipped in neatsfoot oil and a 8 oz welt. Thanks for looking and comments always welcome

No problem! I just had a Manhattan with Jack Daniels, it looks great to me! I really like the contrast of the sheath to the lacing. Very dramatic.

A co-worker has taken up ax/hatchet collecting, and I'm dying to make him a sheath or two, but his son is doing the amazing sharpening for him, and also the sheaths. Bummed.

Thanks, Dave, . . . it's close, . . . but the Shawnee pattern had a slightly wider blade, . . . that's the one I'm hoping to find.  

One was on Ebay a few months back, . . . and I got outbid on it.

Do the different tribes have their own pattern? I always thought that the Indians used whatever they could get hold of. Looks like I'm about to learn something new.....

Honestly, . . . I do not know, . . . but when I saw that particular one on Ebay, . . . and it being called a Shawnee pattern, . . . I just kind of linked in with it, . . . 

I assumed, . . . as is done with most things, . . . a person will develop a pattern of things he likes to do, . . . and how he likes to do it, . . . I figured it was probably that way even with the Indians, . . . perhaps they found a blacksmith who would make theirs a certain way, . . . as his trademark, . . . and is became associated with them.

Anyway, . . . I liked the looks of it.

I'ts really not  a lot different from yours, . . . the blade is probably only an inch or so wider, . . . but I like that pattern.

I have one on my Axe for camping.  It's taken a beating and the axe is no worse for wear.  Been very happy with it.

Ok, thanks Dwight. I still wouldn't mind trying to make one sometime, could be an interesting project.
