Well, I made this just for myself, and it's the first time I ever tried doing this... so here it is, in its flawed glory:

wallet%20top.jpg

I like the tooling design. It's based on metal work found on the Sutton Hoo purse (an Anglo-Saxon ship burial from about 600 AD).
Dye color is Fiebing's Oxblood; hand stitched with red linen thread. (Back from before I even knew what a pricking iron, or a stitching iron, even was.)

wallet%20interior.jpg

Trifold design-- I find it bulky in actual use. Black pigskin liner--fitted like an amateur (see the wrinkle to the side of the ID?)
2 card pockets on the left side-- you can see the gold card in one pocket, and underneath that one is a custom pocket open on both sides -- the card can be slid out to the left or right. I like this feature.
Middle ID holder, with plastic sleeves. Realistic DMV photo not included.
Right side has one card holder (diagonal line marks it) and change pocket (with small rivets to reinforce.)

This is my 4th or 5th wallet. The second one I made for myself.

This one is a basic 4 slot I made out of horween Essex and another black veg tan I had.

This is the one I use, it is the JLS pattern. Minimalist 2 pocket wallet. Very thin. I hardly know it's ever there.

My front pocket. Made this as a sampler out of some too thick Auburn Junkyard leather to try it out but liked it so much I've been trying it out for 3 months now. Friend o mine nicknamed it the "TARDIS". Holds money folded once and up to 14 cards with two in the quick access slot.

Made from one piece of leather. I also do a stitched version now.

@Joseph1836, sort of did. You've heard the phrase taste the rainbow... That's what happens to cows tat are allowed to graze on rainbows...

Ok, so that's hoopla! This is how I done it if you wish to know the technique.

I made a long wallet on a whim, and realized I just can't use one on the day-to-day, so I made a bi-fold afterward.

Ok, I'll play.  Finished this one a while back, it is a prototype of a design I did last year.  I've given a few away, and I'm testing this one out to see how it performs.  All Hermann Oak 2 oz interior, and 3 oz exterior leather with a 1 oz liner.  Fil Au Chinois thread, hand stitched as always.

Wet after tooling:

Skip ahead a few weeks, and 2 days into use:

Y, you have great taste when it comes to color choices on thread.

Thanks!  I must admit to consulting my better half when I get stuck between 2 or 3 options, but this one was a no brainer.  Fil Au Chinois Jaune.

Also, I should be  clear, the carving pattern is a pattern that Tandy has for free, that I took some liberties with and modified.

Clean design.  How long have you been carrying that one?

I do the same. It comes in handy having an art teacher wife.

About a year I think... I’m always going for the minimalistic look... it’s in my Scandinavian heritage :)

Hey Yin, can we see the inside? Do you put heavier leather under the 3 oz when stamping?

@Joseph1836, that's a nice wallet. For burning thread. You don't want to just put the flame to it. You want to approach the thread with the flame until it just starts to melt. I like to move the lighter around as I do this so it isn't stationary.

Alternatively, you can back stitch twice and that should keep it together just fine, then trim flush. You don't have to burn the ends this way. Just what I like to do sometimes

A thread burner works nice too. Basicly a super tiny soldering iron that runs on a AA battery. Look in the heading section of craft stores.

Here’s a quick one I whipped up for a buddies wife per her request as she doesn’t carry a purse much. Cards in the front folded cash in the back pocket.
