Members corkscrew Posted January 15, 2019 Members Report Posted January 15, 2019 A recent project I just finished. It's a couch arm table that slips down over the arm to hold drinks, phone, tablet, remotes, etc. This is also my first attempt at drawing my own floral design to carve. I lined the inside with deer skin to protect the couch. Quote CorkscrewTom

Brownie1 Posted January 15, 2019 Report Posted January 15, 2019 Wow, nice job, out of curiosity because I'm new to leather work, how long did that take? Quote
Members corkscrew Posted January 15, 2019 Author Members Report Posted January 15, 2019 Brownie1, I probably spent 2-3 hrs drawing the design, lots of erasing, since it was my first time drawing a floral design. Then maybe six hrs tooling and an hour or so doing the finish. Building the wood tray table was probably a couple of hrs. Quote CorkscrewTom
garypl Posted January 15, 2019 Report Posted January 15, 2019 Beautiful job Tom! Can’t believe it only took 6 hours to tool - really nice! Gary Quote Cowboy 4500, Consew 206RB-4
bikermutt07 Posted January 16, 2019 Report Posted January 16, 2019 Excellent idea and execution. Quote I'm not paying 80 bucks for a belt!!! It's a strip of leather. How hard could it be? 4 years and 3 grand later.... I have a belt I can finally live with. Stitching is like gravy, it's only great if you make it every day. From Texas but in Bossier City, Louisiana.

Fantastic, totally unique look, and a good one at that. I like everything about this. Now, to put some leather in the bottom of those holders.... That basketweave came out awesome, even going around so many things! YinTx Quote YinTx https://www.instagram.com/lanasia_2017/ https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLK6HvLWuZTzjt3MbR0Yhcj_WIQIvchezo

Members battlemunky Posted January 16, 2019 Members Report Posted January 16, 2019 That looks great. I betcha you'll think twice that first drink you set on it, I know I would. Quote
Members corkscrew Posted January 16, 2019 Author Members Report Posted January 16, 2019 Thanks everyone for the compliments. Thinking I'm going to stain it darker and bevel the bottom outside edge of the inner leg so it doesn't ride up on the seat cushion. Quote CorkscrewTom
Members CZoc Posted January 16, 2019 Members Report Posted January 16, 2019 Just an observation....is that basket weave stamp from toolpaw? The guy in Czech republic?...if so..I have one just like it....amazing quality tool from that company. Quote
