Hi! I’m a newbie and need help threading this machine I just bought. Will certainly pay u for your time!  I think it might be missing pieces but I’d like another set of more experienced eyes to take a look before I go make a case about it with the guy in Austin that I bought it from. Looking for someone who’s willing to FaceTime or zoom. I am an experienced seamstress with Bernina and Singer machines. This one has me stumped tho! Also new to working with leather. Thanks!

What I see from your photo:

Threading:

i) The first double hole top thread guide pin which probably sits in the hole in the top of the machine located just behind and above the letter "t" in brother.

ii) Don't see a thread thread take-up arm, maybe just the angle with the sewing light hiding it.

iii) Top Thread Take-up arm is missing the protective arm that prevents things like you light from striking the take-up arm as it cycles through it's sewing cycle

iv) Top Thread Guide just before the needle is missing

v) The Front Bobbin Cover (nose) is missing.

Structural:

i) The machine appears to have received a serve knock that removed the front left corner of the base.

ii) The machines appears to have had a very heavy coat of paint applied. This maybe covering structural cracks.

iii) Top Belt Pulley maybe not original?

Identification:

i) Your machine looks very similar to a Taking TK-335 so the following video ( www.youtube.com/watch?v=t52VC4KCZpM )should help you with threading and missing pieces. If it is a 335 class machine you will probably be limited to V92 thread.

ii) The model nameplate is missing. Do you know what model it is???

hope this helps

I hope you didn't pay very much for this fixer upper! It needs a lot of parts and work.

Hi Rivercity and welcome to the forum. Here is the path for the thread, usually i have the thread from a large cop just behind the machine and coming through the wire at the back in the picture or directly from the bobbins on the wall. Hope this helps.

I think the previous owner has angle grind cut away that front section and if I am not wrong they have cut away the back section as well probably in order to get a deep bag to fit further in or something like that. Long and short that machine is not likely to hold up to much downward pressure without bending or breaking the hole cylinder arm apart. Spare parts is all I think it could be good for.

Looking at the photo again I agree the back very well may have be hacked off as well. I hope they didn't spend much for the machine.
