How to ease when sewing leather on a 1341?
joetroba replied to joetroba's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Yeah I have watch videos and they make it look so easy. I think the reverse is on the foot pedal. You can get those where you push forward on the pedal to go forward and backward (or heel side) of the pedal to go in reverse. As far as stretch and mis formed due to use, I can agree there is probably some of that. However, there are other pieces that are different lengths where I would say there is no way they distorted the amount that I am seeing. And there is one where the left edge is a slight S curve that the right edge is a regular curve. And those have the most difference. I have created this out of EVA foam and glued canvas to the pieces so I could sew them. They came out pretty decent considering the foam has so much stretch. I am going to attempt to explain this and I hope it makes sense. If you take these pieces and you manipulate them in 3 dimensions and slowly keep the edges lined up, you can get them to start even and end even (even with a large difference in length). Now the fun is getting that to work that way on the machine. As far as seam allowance, I get that (sort of). Because the welting is only 3/16" wide and you are sewing in the middle of that width. And all those edges line up the, the seam allowance of sort of just 3/32". Unless, I am completely thinking about that incorrectly. Tolerances are quite small. - Today

BBQ season is the perfect time of year to be off for a while, enjoy every minute of it you can! I'm in charge of Christmas dinner, the son and I are surprising everyone with Crab, lobster tails, shrimp, either boiled in beer or beer-battered, oh, and fried oysters for Christmas Eve. Yeah, sadly, here in Wyoming. In cattle country, it was a cheaper option than a beef prime rib roast. its still blowing and forecast for at least another four or five days!! Jeez, this has been a long one. A weird, sad fact for our small community is that the suicide rate has always far exceeded the norms of the world, and it's been blamed on the isolation, unceasing winds, and bitter cold of the area. It looks gorgeous outside, but when you go out, the wind just drives any warmth right out of you. Blows so hard you can't catch your breath lol. It's also why I have about a hundred indoor hobbies lol. -
Wherever you may be let your creativity flow free in 2026. May you all have a safe and Happy Christmas 🎄 and a creative and Happy 2026 Let's hope 2026 will kind to all of us 🙏 HS

gear for 29k machine metal workers please read
Tigweldor replied to catskin's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Roger that. Price for postage would be €15,99 uninsured and €26,49 with insurance up to €500 if lost or damaged. Weight limit of 2kg should pose no probs - need any other drive chain parts for the 29k ?? - (the head is gone - now lives on my Adler 30-7) Here the link : https://www.dhl.de/de/privatkunden/pakete-versenden/weltweit-versenden/land/kanada.html Greetings Hans -

Hah did you send this to Florida? I just received a 18U222 from Poland and think this machine or its cousin might be mine now Is a neat old machine. I have seen several Japanese bespoke shoemakers prefer them as they allow you to sew right along a top edge with the work supported, and I figured I would see if I could put this one back into service for the same I was going to ask if anyone knew if parts from the more common right-hand cylinder arm light leather machines like class 17 might be interchangeable eg needle plate, accessory work table. ISMACS suggests they are mirror copies.

@chuck123wapati i've seen vids of semis getting blown over, looks terrifying, so I can imagine the strength of those winds. Had my last market for the year on Sunday, 21st, so now I am a man of leisure, sort of. Our AC is working perfect 👌 local installer too, did a fine job. I spilt a whole tin of contact adhesive all over my bench and onto my leg once. What a sticky gluggy mess it was too, along with a multitude of expletives Lesson learnt. HS -

thread Translating and locating thread for my machine
Troy Black D replied to Cosplayholic's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
The breakdown of needle and thread sizes is especially helpful—industrial specs can be really confusing at first. Sounds like the LU-1510 is a great fit for the kind of layered leather work you’re planning. Looking forward to seeing how your first project turns out!- 8 replies

How does she make the machine feed in reverse? She's got a knee lift for the presser foot, but both hands in the shot when she reverses. -

Did you account for seam allowance? For a non-eased seam, the the pieces will have the same length along the stitch line. (Not necessarily the same length along the outside edge of the leather) -
Who makes a good bag punch set? I have some very bad Chinese ones.

Interesting project. I see the difference in the 2 lengths, 219 vs 215.72. I wonder if that difference could be in how the old gloves stretched over the years. I've had similar problems trying to use an old hat I took apart as a template. Pieces just don't seem to like up as if expect.
