  2. college sewing in the UK for sure has the parts. I have used them for my 29k71 back then. But the parts where tight and IIRC the shaft and no hole for the tapered shaft. But I may have some used parts. Please send em a message. Where are you located?
  3. I would like to see the path of the top thread starting from the spool of thread on the thread stand following it as it passes through each thread guide or tensioner to the eye of the needle particularly the tensioner assembly. kgg
  4. It's been a while since I was here. I have gotten a 29k58 machine. For some unknown reason a previous owner took out the front shaft that allows for the balance wheel to be mounted on the front. The hub is still there. The part numbers are 82008 for the shaft and 81869 for the gear. From the research I have done so far it seems that those parts are the same on most if not all Singer patchers. Can anyone tell me if they know if those parts are still available, even used. And if the parts from an Adler or some clone would fit.
  5. I may have the parts. Can you send me a list of what in particular you need? Please send me a PM message.

  7. @KGG Thanks, it's night time now a comin' but I'll do that tomorrow. If I understand well, you want a close up of the thread going from the spool to the needle while the hook is passing by? I'll try to make some shots but it won't be easy.. You gave me a hint, needle bar height? Will post tomorrow... Have a good one!
  8. Could you post a few photo's of your top thread from the spool to the eye of the needle. I think this is a fairly easy problem to solve. kgg
  9. Thanks for sharing your work. I am planning to make a similar bag in the near future.
  10. I moved your post to Leather Sewing Machines. Help wanted is like news paper classifieds where you want some one to work for you. Also every pot there requires moderator approval before members can see it. You'll more help in this forum.
  11. Hi Everyone, My Seiko STW-8B is doing OK for Bimini tops, doghouses, lazy bags but sometimes, the thread coming from the bobbin gets out of the slit , always when starting a job and now I know that after 2'', if it's OK then I can continue, but it's boring.. I have the occasion of getting a Mitsubishi DU-105, How would you compare the Seiko STw-8B, to the M DU-105 and an adler 167-63 (simple, a worhorse, although drop feed and needle feed only, a great machine)? In terms of - stitch length -ruggedeness - parts availability Thanks a lot for your answers, it\s a very interesting community here! Best Xavier
  12. Yesterday, I was invited to run a short trail around my house. I call it the Fitsters Trail, since two very athletic sisters were the first to show it to me. It's not usable in warmer weather due to deep puddles, but now things are frozen! I only got the 4 lovely kilometers yesterday (with one of the sisters) but today I'm thinking I'll go around there again, and run the airport fence line all the way to the road. I've really missed winter (not to mention those sisters...been almost a year) Pic somewhat related. Ice road crossing back when we still had the 'Robertson Headframe' in our skyline.
  13. THAT'S a good practice I didn't think to do. Thanks, @PastorBob

  18. Thank you, @PastorBob. Clearing the cache may have completely solved the problem. Pages are loading faster now. I use Chrome on multiple devices and hadn't considered that the shared cache might be slowing them all for this site. Other sites that I frequent aren't showing a lag but maybe they will be even quicker now that I've cleaned up the cache.
  19. I do like inlays. Something to try is skive down the edge (from the inside) around the inlay, so there is less of a lip.
  20. I use Satin Sheen by itself or Super Sheen then knock it down with sheep's wool instead of steel wool. Seems to work well.

  22. Hey everyone, I’ve been working on improving my leather braiding techniques, especially with kangaroo hide, and recently completed a brown–red 16-plait snake whip. I’m trying to refine tapering, plait symmetry, and handle reinforcement, and thought this community might have some experienced eyes for feedback. I’ve been studying different braiding methods, core building techniques, and how to get the cleanest transitions. If anyone here specializes in whip-making or braiding, I’d really appreciate advice or critique. I’ve shared more of my work and built on my profile as well. Thanks in advance — always learning!
  23. @chuck123wapati as i am typing, I can see and hear a combine harvesting canola on the other side of my neighbours property. The whine of the turbo is quite audible its a ' New Holland ' I think . They've just turned the massive spot lights on, it's getting dark now. There's already been a few B double semis full of canola drive past my house . Quite a sight to see at this time of year The harvesting wont be finished until later tonight. Needless to say, I only use canola oil in all of my cooking 👍 HS
