Which one would be best for a new to stamping tools and work? So far I've only made a few sheaths. Plain with no decorations. I'd like to start adoring my projects. Thanks again for the help! David

OK so what order are you suppose to go in when you are basketweaving and need to do the edge all the way around. I usually cut the boarder then bevel it then basketweave stamp the area then go along the boarder with a boarder stamp of my choice to finish it off. This doesnt allways give the correct results or looks as good as I wanted. Is it better to not cut the boarder at all and just scribe a line? Should I bevel last?

In one of the Basket weave threads somebody suggested saving and reviewing the Mosby Tutorial before starting the project. GOOD IDEA! I wasn't paying attention on the attached photo and didn't line up the stamp correctly. The good news, (Iguess ) is that I was consistent across the first line so I am thinking it is salvagable. I just can't seem to come up with something that looks good. I have been working on some scrap pieces so you won't see the efforts in the thread. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'm embarrassed to even put this up here but this is the third one I've managed to trash. I have not done basketweave in 5 years due to a back injury. I use to fly through this and no problems. I don't know if the angle is off or what I'm doing wrong......maybe the whole thing is wrong. This is a square for a double light switch cover. In the center are the penciled lines for the screw holes, switch rectangles, and another rectangle (between the switches) for an initial stamp. The rectangle is really throwing things off, or something. I'm using a Tandy X534 basketweave stamp, and yes I know that is definitely not the best. The rectangle for the initial is not toole…

I'm having trouble keeping my basketweave stamping aligned properly and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Can anyone help troubleshoot by looking at these photos? The leather is Wickett & Craig 7/8 oz shoulder, which seems to take the tooling much differently than the Tandy leather that I had before. The left side was done first, and it was probably too wet which could be at least part of the problem. I also made the impressions nice and deep, and this gave me problems trying to line up the stamp in the previous mark because of the differences in height between stamped and unstamped areas (if that makes sense.)The right side was allowed to dry to a more properly 'c…

I've given my basketweave stamps several go rounds, and every single time, my work ends up crooked, or some lines look squishy . How do you keep it going in a straight line, and keep it from getting squishy looking? I've tried very lightly scribing a line for each line of stamping, and it helps some, but I'm not sure it's the best way. Also takes forever. I have the same problem with that 3 sided basket stamp. Do others of you have the same trouble, or am I just a moron? Maybe I just need new trifocals... How to fix the problem? Still scratchin my head, Hilly

Its going to work this time, I hope. Somewhere along the line I lost a couple of my first photos so there is a lot of info related to this first one. If you get confused let me know and I'll take some additional shots and post them. In the first picture, get a piece of good, firm leather about 3" x 5", draw a base line close to edge leaving enough room to stamp one row between the edge and the line. Stamp a good base line along this line. Then stamp about 6 rows up, creating a slanted line by stamping one less impression on each next row. I'm left handed so most of yours' will be the opposite direction. Now cut a straight line along your baseline. Lay your straight edge…

Hey everyone. I have a little different method of basket stamping than the others posted. Would you like a tutorial or would I just be beating a dead horse? Just let me know.

Beaded line

I want to do some sort of a border. I make western style Holsters. On the edge, I want two parallel lines and between them I want to make a beaded effect. I have taken a micro-screwdriver and used that to create little squares but I want a "rope" or bead type effect. Is there a way or a stamp to do this? Thanks.
