This is a great place to post pics your latest work. Please understand that as the threads get older, we're going to move the topics to the area they "fit", for example, bikes or holsters, just to keep this section manageable, and help the newer folks find lots of pics of the subjects they are interested in. If I have moved your post to the wrong area, please TELL me so I can fix it. Please don't be upset when I move an older post- it actually helps more people to find it. It also helps when we use descriptive titles. "Recent Projects" isn't as likely to get clicks as "Harley Saddlebags and Seat" or "Civil War Holster and Belt". To post your pics, use the "browse" …

Since a lot of my past hobbies are no longer available due to physical changes, I do a bit of woodworking, build some knives, and do a bit of leatherworking in the shop. I can also shoot or fish on the good days... (from my kayak mostly) but mainly I work in the shop, an hour at a time. Lately, I have been challenging myself, building knives. I don't sell them, I either give them to friends/family as gifts, or keep them. A table by the front door is laden with them and the wife told me I needed to build a display case to hang on the wall. "Someone could walk off with one of your knives," she shook her head, "We have service people in and out at times." "Wors…

I don't remember if I mentioned here at leatherworker.net that the VA approved my claim for disability compensation for acquiring disabling diseases due to herbicide exposure, but they did, about December 13th. I won't be homeless again, which at 77 is a matter of survival. I also don't have to make sandals now, but I want to, having spent the last 16 months setting up my shop, and today I am at this stage where the topsoles and straps for my very first pair since the 70's are cut and beveled. After I click send I'm going to burnish the strap edges with trag and start on the strap slots. I'm not using a punch for that, but will use my round knife and tiny circle punches a…

So I had a customer place an order for a purse as a gift for his wife. He originally wanted it as a birthday gift, but I dont think I'll be able to get it done by then (August 3rd) so I told him Christmas would be better. I'm waiting to receive his down payment before doing any of the custom tooled pieces, but I got most of the veg tan pieces cut out and will start tooling some of it this weekend. I will post more photos as the project progresses.

Just started the build of my first stitching pony. The overall height will be about 16 inches. I'll use two cam clamps, one for closing the clamp, and one for locking the rotation to the base. I'll wrap and glue veg-tan around each half of the clamp. I'll also insert magnets for holding the needles. I created the design in SketchUp. Feedback welcome... Has anyone made a clamping mechanism that uses magnets to hold your work?

Started work on a simple briefcase for myself. Thought it would be fun to share the journey. As a Vermonter (who moved) my love for covered bridges grew from a young age. It was so much fun photographing the bridges in different seasons. This particular tooling bears a striking resemblance to a bridge close to my house, it is uncanny, Started this panel last night at 8 pm thinking it would be done by 1 am. I was wrong, the border was being done as the kids were getting on the bus. This led to a brain fart, the bushes on the left took a quick look at the pattern and carved the wrong side of the line! My lesson was learned, not to start something a…

Finished this up for a client. First big project on the Class 4. Used the new attachments from @Patrick1 that @Tim Schroeder recommended. 277 top thread, 207 bottom thread, 25 needle. Drum dyed Hermann Oak, except liner. it's for a Ruger .45 LC Single Action. Customer signed the invoice before he left. Scanned it the signature to use for laser engraving his name inside. Burned off the thread ends after pics.

Guys & gals it has been a while since I have posted anything. Been like a year since I have had a swivel knife in my hand. Boy I'm Rusty! Lmao like I was any good before. This is my very 1st figured carved fish. It's supposed to be a large mouth bass. I am pretty Dang proud of this! I know my friend will like it too! Well how bad is it? I am a long way from being done.
