This is a great place to post pics your latest work. Please understand that as the threads get older, we're going to move the topics to the area they "fit", for example, bikes or holsters, just to keep this section manageable, and help the newer folks find lots of pics of the subjects they are interested in. If I have moved your post to the wrong area, please TELL me so I can fix it. Please don't be upset when I move an older post- it actually helps more people to find it. It also helps when we use descriptive titles. "Recent Projects" isn't as likely to get clicks as "Harley Saddlebags and Seat" or "Civil War Holster and Belt". To post your pics, use the "browse" …

Since a lot of my past hobbies are no longer available due to physical changes, I do a bit of woodworking, build some knives, and do a bit of leatherworking in the shop. I can also shoot or fish on the good days... (from my kayak mostly) but mainly I work in the shop, an hour at a time. Lately, I have been challenging myself, building knives. I don't sell them, I either give them to friends/family as gifts, or keep them. A table by the front door is laden with them and the wife told me I needed to build a display case to hang on the wall. "Someone could walk off with one of your knives," she shook her head, "We have service people in and out at times." "Wors…

I don't remember if I mentioned here at leatherworker.net that the VA approved my claim for disability compensation for acquiring disabling diseases due to herbicide exposure, but they did, about December 13th. I won't be homeless again, which at 77 is a matter of survival. I also don't have to make sandals now, but I want to, having spent the last 16 months setting up my shop, and today I am at this stage where the topsoles and straps for my very first pair since the 70's are cut and beveled. After I click send I'm going to burnish the strap edges with trag and start on the strap slots. I'm not using a punch for that, but will use my round knife and tiny circle punches a…

So I had a customer place an order for a purse as a gift for his wife. He originally wanted it as a birthday gift, but I dont think I'll be able to get it done by then (August 3rd) so I told him Christmas would be better. I'm waiting to receive his down payment before doing any of the custom tooled pieces, but I got most of the veg tan pieces cut out and will start tooling some of it this weekend. I will post more photos as the project progresses.

I made this shoulder holster for a friend of mine. It my interpretation of Doc Holiday's shoulder holster from the movie Tombstone, (with a few tweaks with my own creative license.) This is first time I’ve made something for someone else. It kind hurt to give it up, lol. I started with a pattern from London Jacks on Etsy. Then, I found auction photos of the actual holster, and I modified it enough that there is almost no part of the purchased pattern left. Also, Chakotay has a nice YouTube video where he makes his version. I used his idea of how to make the belt loops on the back. My friend picked up the holster over the weekend. He was thrilled, which was a good…

I've been making these hats and selling them at our local farmers market and folks have loved them! Some of y'all may not appreciate the laser engraving, and that's ok. It gives me the ability to do designs and detail I wouldn't be able to achieve otherwise. Hope y'all like them!
