Got an old defect V-8 sitting in your back yard ? Or some old rods under your workbench ? Well, here is a simple project. Make a toilet paper roll holder out of them - I keep one standing on my work table for general clean up work. Makes a good gift to a V-8 lover as well - if you want, get the rods powder coated in the colour of your choice. For the round bar I use old Japanese motorcycle front axles cut down or any other round stock available. I call this "up-cycling" Greetings Hans

An idea. Not fully formulated yet. A work around Government tariffs? I know that most of you in the US really prefer to buy in the US but some may buy from overseas producers Have the item sent to me in UK which has no tariffs. Then I'll repackage it and send it on to you. Still working on this idea but I need to go out now

Got an old blown up V-8 sitting in your back yard ? Turn it into a house bar. I welded bars into the bottom of the cylinder bores, turned down the pistons as bottom plugs over the welded in bars. Timing chain, engine and cam sprockets are nickle plated. The head plates are made from half inch aluminum plate and polished - then fastened with dome headed Allen head screws. You cam use an old head gasket for the bolt pattern and a jig saw to cut the holes - I had mine done by a bud with a machine shop - for some welding in return. The glass plate is made from 10mm crystal glass - get the mounting holes drilled where you buy the glass. The engine…

This has been bouncing around in my head for a long time and without access to intelligent people who might be interested you guys are it. Sorry. A PATTERN OF ISLANDS By Arthur Grimble This book has intrigued and fascinated me for years. I’ll be brief here but if there’s any serious interest I’ll gladly get into the detail. An upper middle class white collar worker gets sent to some Pacific Islands as a young man to assist the Governor of a group of islands. Some years later he gets promoted to Governor. The big chief of a group of islands, on hearing the news, feels his biceps and declares that he’s not fat enough to be a chief and n…

I wanted to send this out to the internet. Call it the leather community or your pick. When I was a young Texas kid. Every stereotype that has been projected onto Texas. It's pretty much true. Cowboys, cows, and the occasional goat. A specific, definable, culture. One aspect was leather. Through my life, I've stood and stared at gun belts and holsters displayed at the Texas Ranger museum. Other influences was cowboys themselves. Leather and conchos are a poor man's jewelry. I've never made things to sell. I made/make them out of need. I've made holster after holster. Knife sheaths. Spur straps. Handcuff cases. Flash light holders... Then lif…

A friend of a friend is a widow of a fellow who had a small business doing leatherwork. He mostly worked in tooled belts, wallets and sheaths. I'm very new to leatherwork, and I don't really have a good idea what to offer the widow for the tools. There are shelves full of all sorts of leather, and a workbench full of tools. Some of it I can price right off of an internet search (such as the poly mauls, which are like ~30 USD. Then there's hardware (Chicago screws, rivets, etc.) and a few large (concho?) punches and
