  1. Thanks for the reply. It would be nice to have an exact pattern to make it identical but out of leather. I know I wouldn't take an old one in good condition apart just to make a pattern. But even the worn out ones cost a good amount. So that was why I had asked. Maybe someone else had the same idea at one time and maybe had a pattern they might sell. Was worth a shot. I think it would be one cool bag for sure. John
  2. I was wondering if anyone has ever thought of making a WWII U.S Army mussette bag out of leather? I was thinking it would be one cool bag. Then I thought if it were made the same. It could be used with a strap or hanging from D rings on suspenders like originals. If I had an old one I would make a pattern from it but don't have one. The cheap ones are normaly torn to shreads and wouldn't make a good pattern. Anyone ever thought about it???? john
  3. Thank you for the reply and great information Dwight. I think you answered what would have been my next question thank you. But originaly I was just wondering what size piece of leather it would take for the curved western style gunbelt to fit on. Like the size of blanc needed that's all. Just trying toget an idea of what would be needed. Don't have a pattern at the moment but thought it might be a good project. John
  4. I am sure someone here can say. I just would like an idea of what sized piece I will need to start it. John
  5. I was wanting to know what is the average width and length of leather is needed to make a curved gun belt? John
  6. That's great thanks alot for clearing that up for me. Also for taking the time to post pictures so there was no confusion about what you were saying. Just what I needed to know. Thanks again. John
  7. The strage thing is they made it look like fake flat head screw heads on the face of the loop you see in the picture and the back side of it is a solid post with no hole in it. I'd like to try and fix them if I can. Maybe file off the post on the back and drill out the two holes that should be there. I am sure the head of the rivet would hide the fact I drilled them out. When I first looked at them i knew something was wrong. Any other sugjesttions would be appreciated. Thank you. John P.S Has anyone used this clasp before? If so share some pics. Would like to see it on something to get an idea of what it will look like on something.
  8. Thank you for the replies. the three holes are not in question. In the picture you see the two holes there? On mine those two holes are fake screw heads with a post behind them that is not threaded. So that is my question. The part with two holes is my problem because mine doesn't have the two holes. Hope that clears it up enough to figure my problem out. Thank you. john

  14. I recently aquired a bag full of old Tandy ID case kits. I was reading the instructions on putting them together and was stumped. It said to sew together then slide the window into pocket? What holds that plastic in place?? It said nothing about gluing it or anything. So how do you keep it in place inside the pocket window? John
  15. Thank's for the reply. But this is what Tandy's description of blades::Replacement blades for the following tools: #395300 Angled Utility Knife #3060-00 Utility Knife. There normal utility knife blades. They won't fit in the Jerry's stripper. Utility blades are to long to fit. I have a box of them and they don't fit.
  16. Thanks for the reply Luke. Springfield sells the stripper but not the blades. tandy don't carry them either.
  17. I was wondering if anyone knows where to get blades for these. I thought they took regular utility blades but they are not as angled as new ulades. So long story short new ones don't fit. Anyone have one and know where to find the right blades for them? John

  19. Ok I wanted to ask the people who know first before I start. I know when lining a book cover it is good to slightly close the cover when gluing the lining in so not to get wrinkles when folded closed or open. Should I bend the flap of the purse as I am gluing the lining in so not to get wrinkles? I am doing a Tandy western clasic II purse for my daughter. Just so you know it one peice for back and flap. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. John
