  1. the antique is an old jar of feibings paste I found, the color is really warm not as red as the eco flow I will be bummed when its gone.
  2. sharing is caring the color is actually not orange but here is looks as though it is, the true color is natural antiqued in mahogany with a healthy tan. have a great week everyone!
  3. wow bearman, that is really special
  4. don"t take it personally this forum has members all over the world! many look and learn and don't necessarily participate by responding then there are those who are fully embedded here have loads of talent as well as input. give it time and or try again also some will get more involved the longer you hang out and they get to know you. good luck and welcome,
  5. Hi everybody, I am looking for a belt pouch (fanny pack?) kit, or pattern. I really want the kit as I just had my hip replaced so the easier the better. I can carve and such I just would like something where a couple of steps are removed like cutting patterns etc... so if anyone has one or knows who has one and can drop me a note, link or ??? that would be great! I have looked around the net but I thought someone here may have seen one or have one they would like to sell, at any rate I appreciate any type of help. have a wonderful weekend! thank you
  6. Your thoughts are very appreciated I do understand everything you wrote (right tool for the job being paramount). I guess I was thinking that I could make a better decision on how and when to lay down the hard cash after having read and understood many thoughts/opinions I might receive here. everyone who shared their information has helped me better to understand the trials of at least getting close to what I want/need without having to buy tools that might not be right for the job as I have experienced thankfully rather quickly so as not to waste that hard earned cash. At the moment my work is focused on perfecting the design in the first post. The bevelers I have used are challenging to say the least so I had to post for some quality feedback before risking buying something expensive to then not be able to use it and I also realize there is a level of trial and error to perfecting anything equally I have learned many opinions usually help me to make an educated decision. the entire thread is valuable, I love this place! LW thank you everyone!!! very helpful thank you also very cool.
  7. thank you. I will take a look
  8. thank you all for your thoughts and opinions I understand the variable appreciations for well made tools and have come to learn here there several available. I really want to invest in two bevelers and I bet I will actually need to try em out, actually hit one if possible..... I like the idea of looking into a leather tool/craft convention of sorts thank you again for the help.
  9. Hello everyone, I have learned much reading the threads in this forum! the purpsoe of this message is to buy the right two tools. my funds will not allow me to exceed two well made bevelers so my question is size and maker. all opinions appreciated! I am learning but prefer to "buy right" from the get go....I am at the point that I want to commit to at least 2 serious (well made) bevelers for a design I do. the cuff widths I am working at this time is 1-3/4" 2" to give an idea of carving size. I am open to hearing everyone's opinion and hopefully share with us their two favorite bevelers acompanyed by an image of the work. I am so excited to see the results thank you in advance I feel it will be helpful for many of us to learn of the tools the craft-smith rely on above all other tools. this design is in a preliminary stage the beveling is on the symbols that is the design element that will remain and be beveled. thanks again kitty

  12. much thanks, that was very helpful and had the answers, enjoy the day crissy
  13. awesome! Thank you everyone I was hoping it was that easy,,,,,, one more question, so after I make a mixture and spray on the leather do it just let it soak or wipe it off or....?? cheers crissy
  14. howdy all, I am wondering if oxalic acid is also called wood beach? I have Googled it and have found many pages on it but not specifically where to find locally unless it is also referred to as wood bleach then maybe I can find it at the lumber store. thank you for helping. crissy
  15. Hiya, I am interested in chap patterns, would you mind please sending me a list too? then you much,
  16. Thank you for your good words I am going to give it my best shot.

  17. I would suggest, if possible use an air brush. I have used the ecoflo white paint and it covered well, with several light coats as opposed to one or two heavier coats also I dampen lightly the surface to be painted to get even absorption. I find brushing yields brush marks on larger peices... then let dry and finish. those methods work for me but I am very new to this. I make belts cuffs and stuff not masks but sure look forward to making one sometime. hope it helps, I look forward to the final product.
  18. I believe Tandy is trying to make a living while also trying to make things available to more than those who can afford to buy $25.00+ carving tools to get the job done. also I believe the reason the ecoflo line was created was an environmental effect decision from pressure at state levels. not an expert here but Tandy employees are always willing to share, teach, and alert me of deals saving me lot-o-cash. I am not knocking the expensive tools they are worth the green backs required for owning them and the machines to make turned wood or metal and so on are certainly not cheap. then there is the time required to make it "whatever it is" so as all artist or craft persons have done since creating paint or the wheel is to use whats available, figure it out improve it if possible and don't buy it if you don't like it. I don't know the Tandy owners maybe this is all BS but I always start with a positive note nothing about the day is easy any more unless you begin with a take it easy attitude. ecoflo products are good for something sand not so good for others. shoot you could probably make your own dye if you wanted to. I use ecoflo and fiebings and eventually going to try staining with oil paints eventually. the best of luck crissy

hello all, I just wanted to share the an image of my new leather wrench (maul) made by Ed The BearMan. this maul is a thing of beauty and I am sending Ed a big shot of sunshine.... "thank you Ed" I will hit the hide with great respect and look forward to future additions. Ed you are truly an amazing craftsman, anyone interested in seeing some of his work go check out his flicker site. there are so many talented individuals in this forum I am very happy I tripped across leatherworkers and I'm planning to make myself a nice and cozy home here. also a big thank you to Hidepounder for suggesting I give the BearMand a shout. the amount of information and generosity here is mind blowing, cheers crissy
  22. nothing more need be said, this is a philosophy one can build success on.
  23. I agree 100% if things were to remain as they were years ago we wouldn't be having this conversation using this technology, line have to drawn people need to come together and positive change for all needs to take place. no more "ME" its "US" and it (being the grater good) wont really work any other way in regard to the topic and just about everything else living. we are in a time of cultivation and preservation ..... evolution.
  24. Johanna, is it possible to add a page called "market place" for hand made, specialty, one of a kind, or production items? I have bought many things here and I see as you do the potential for a nice slice of the market covering things not even imagined at this point. think evolution I do tip of my hat
