hi Gordon thank you for your hints. I found that ebay offer too but i thought 12€ per piece is a bit pricy (its about 16$ for one needle). Maybe its a normal price and i have to accept that. but before i order those, i will try to find a cheaper one I emailed Groz Beckert amd shoesystems and will wait for their replys. My googlefu is not strong enough for other sellers in europe, so if you have another hint, i will be very thankful (and offer you a sixpack beer and a nice evening if you ever come to germany lol) Jonathan

Hi everybody. today I need your help. Maybe someone knows where to find needles for a frobana sole stitcher. They are curved and very hard to find. Those machines where common in Germany and I don't know if there may exist merchants in other country's who could have those needles. The machine is called frobana doppelmaschine in German if this helps. Thank you all Jonathan

Laptop Bag
Jazznow replied to Jazznow's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
Hi all Thanks for the nice comments. @bob: yeah it's a three piece gusset. Was the first time I tried this nd of course it doesn't fit as well as it should. Sadly - and that I the major flaw - it doesn't even stand alone. It will fall over to the front if not leaned backwards... :/ Greetings Jonathan -

Hi all, i finished a Laptop bag today. i was working on it for two months now and am verz happy to ship it now. Its design was made to look like a mail envelop. when i started the shoulder strap and the flap were meant to be attached with buckles (which already baught) but my mum decided, that she wanted it that way you see it now. it took some creative work to modify the pattern lol. Its clompletly handsewn and lined with two layers of fleece to protect the Laptop. It has some faults and i made some mistakes but im happy overall. Let me know what you think Jonathan

I Promised I'd Start A Challenge For April
Jazznow replied to DoubleC's topic in Special Events, Contests and Classes
Hey Cheryl Thanks for bringing this Contest back to life. It was very fun and I learned very much, too. I like how your horse turned out. Only thing the size of the hole. I didn't realize that until dirt cloud mentioned it lol. But altogether I think it turned out great I think I will skip the next challenge because I have to much to do (and I'm not feeling ready for faces yet ^^). I think you mentioned a steampunk challenge sometime. I will join ths for sure (could even make it, but this could need some preparation time) Have an ice day Jonathan -

Hi Stewart, Thanks for the advice. It's a little late, but I will think about it, when doing it again Rae, your carving is very cool. Turned out awesome. I did coloring today and it turned out ok. I don't like coloring vey much because you can make so much wrong, lol. But this time there were only a few minor mistakes. Have a look: I'm glad it's finally done. Now I can finish that damn laptop bag for my mum and make myself a new cell phone pouch Have a nice Sunday Jonathan -
I would love to reply to this one with another joke, but that would belong to the adult section lol

Jazznow replied to DoubleC's topic in Special Events, Contests and Classes
Hi double c. I'm afraid I wasn't expressing what I'm going to do clear enough. I will use dyes, not acrylics (I don't have any ). So I will see what I could come up with. It's all about experimenting and learning, isn't it Have a nice evening -

Thanks Regalto I like your carving very much. You should definitely put it on your workshop wall. And i think you Did a good job on painting it. I'm thinking on how to paint my stuff. Currently I think I will give the cloud and the hand itself a resist (will several layers of resolene resist oil dye?). Moon will be dyed with deluted yellow, earth with different shades of brown. Background black maybe with a coat of blue under it. Stone maybe black too but with a coat of white under it to make it gray. Do you all have any suggestions or different ideas? Greetings -
Thanks for our response. Heled me for future projects keep up your awesome work

Hi The dragon looks awesome. Love the look f the scale. Did you cut them with swivel knife? Can't say anything about the floral one, cause I don't know anything about floral carving.

Jazznow replied to DoubleC's topic in Special Events, Contests and Classes
Hi harley corn. I agree with double c. A hair blade wouldn't look natural. Here tips are great. What you could try on some scraps is roughening the leather in the parts that arent hit by sunlight. USe ome very fine sandpaper I think it would turn out darker after dyeing. Best wishes -

Very nice job. I'm just making one for my mum too. Did you thought about lining it with something soft to prevent the laptop from getting broken? Im currently sewing two layers of fleece by hand as a lining into the bag. No fun job wondering if there is something better...

Is It Possible To Veg-Tan Moose Leather So It Can Be Carved?
Jazznow replied to Destrier's topic in Leatherwork Conversation
Hi there In theory it should be possible to veg tan those hides, but I'm no expert at all even if it is possible it could be that tooling and dying properties would be completly different to cowhide. You should find a tannery and ask them if they can do that and how the result will be. It will most probably not a good deal. My father has got a little farm where he raises cows, pigs and sheep (he doing this for fun lol, I never will understand that). He once asked a tannery to tan one of the cows hides. They quoted 300€ which is 50% more than what I pay normaly for veg tan hides. Could be completly different in the US of course. Good luck anyway Jonathan -

Jazznow replied to arbalet12's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
Arbalet your work is always stunning to me. It feels like im a monkey that is admiring the stuff humans can do while all I can do is pushing a stick into an anthill, lol. Don't stop showing us your stuff. I think it's an inspiration for most of us. -

Hi all. Like that Hammer very much. Dont wanna get it on my head lol. Keep on going and let us see how it turn out on leather. Cheryl: the pear shader is a great idea. The spoon too. I will experiment on some scraps to find out what to use. I'm thinking about pushing some 80 grit sandpaper flat on the surface of the stone which could look cool too. Scraps will show. I will make pics so you can see the difference. Greetings Jonathan
