  1. Thats a Nice One Great to have some Good Friends (guess he is one of the friends who will make it to the future now, lol)
  2. Thank you aurelie. Lucky as i am i antiqued before Edge dying and the antique was a little bit like a reit to the edge dye. I was able to wipe most of it off. Steampunk is a niche in the fantasy literature. Its a little but like science fiction in 18th to 19th century, which means steam is more or less he only artificial power that was invented but it s imagined to be much more powerful than in the real world. Just combine steam power with airships and Jules Verne and if you like add a little bit of magic and workers and what you get is steampunk Have a nice day Jonathan

  4. Thank you guys.its been a lot of work indeed @tom: I will burnish the edges one more time. I wasnt paying enough attention to it... After I spilled the edge dye about the bag, I only wanted to finish that damn thing and did the remaining parts very fast... No good idea lol Have a nice evening Jonathan
  5. Hi folks, just wanted to show off my new Steampunk bag and some other stuff. SP bag is biggest thing i ever made and carved all around. was some heavy work I'm not entirely happy with it, but it turned out ok. espeacially when you know that there was edge kote spilled over the front lol The Steampunk belt is for myself, it got that fancy buckle you can buy from tandy. very nice toy but quality is not very good. i used it every day for two weeks or so and of course i played with the movable gears, but they already start to losen. Other prob is, that the antique comes of in the beveled lines. never had that before. maybe because i used a plain beveler not one with texture? Any ideas? The plain red is made to order for my mum. i like this crossing beltloop. I ordered three different belt blanks from tandy to see their quality, So one was spare. I made the last belt out of it and will see if i can sell it for special price, because quality of this belt blank was not very good. The wristband i made out of a piece of leather that was lying around. Thanks for having a look, i appreciate any hints to get better. Jonathan
  6. You could put newspaper or plastic bags into the bag. Push everything into a nice form and let it dry.
  7. Try some 80 or 120 grit sandpaper
  8. There is a method, that valery michaels described in her book (don know the English title but google for her name an "leather" and it should show up). I try to describe it as good as I can. The trick is, to make the gusset out of three parts. One Bottom, two sides. Make the exactly as long as the corresponding sides of your bag. Make them as wide as you Want it and add 1/4" seam allowance at both sides. Cut a groove at the flesh side at the line where you added those 1/4 inch. At the side parts of the gusset cut out an rectangle on the lower end. It as wide as you want your bag to be so you have a rectangle with two 1/4" squares at the sides on the lower end. At the bottom part you cut out a 1/4" square at very corner. Wet the leather and fold the rectangle thatis longer than the rest in a 90 degree angle. Fold the seam allowance at all pieces too. Sew the front piece to the gusset then he back. Et voila. It's hard to describe without pics but I hope it's understandable. Btw ths olnly works if your bg has got 90 degree angle at the sides Greetings Jonathan
  9. Very nice. I think portraits are the most difficult thing to carve.
  10. Hi Very nice work. Card weaved straps are great together with leather stuff. My gf is doing card weaving too and made a strap for one of my bags some time ago. Just showed her your pic and she likes the strap very much. If your wife is interested in Exchanging ideas and experiences, I could pm you the email address of my gf. Best wishes Jonathan
  11. Very nice design clean and simple. Like that very much.
  12. Is the DVD good? Thought about buying it for some time now. Had a course with befriends once. He's a great chap... Anyway you did a very great job on that heart
  13. I think its good for a second project. I only have made one wallet sp far, but I think I can give you two hints. First is to watch the force you apply when sewing thin leathers. If you pull the thread to tight you make the leather wrinkle in that area. Picture quality is not so good but I think this happened at the third pic lower left corne of the wallet. Second hint is to use a small hole punch at the end of the credit card slots. It looks like you have made a vertical cut at the ends of the credit card slots. This could rip or become loose over time which is not so likely with a hole. A hole looks more elegant too (personal oppinion). Keep on going. You will become better every time Jonathan
  14. Very cool. Like the carving. Greetings Jonathan
  15. Hi Khan, I didn't wanted to offend anybody. It was not intended to talk bad about lv, just wanted to say, that there are some lv fakes that are of a good quality (of course not all fakes...). If I read my post again, I can see that this message may not have arrived at the reader because I can't express myself in English as good as in my native language. So if I have offended you or anybody else, I am very sorry. Best regards, Jonathan
  16. Talked to a guy who runs a bag and baggage shop. He's an expert on industrial bags. He told me the Luis Vuitton fakes are in fact better than the real ones, lol.
  17. Your skill in this early Stage makes me Jealous....

sorry to hear that. I am sure you can salvage things. Maybe cover it over with a liner or some other detail carved piece so it looks like you did that on purpose

or you could sand the edge coat off the back.

Thank you all for your advice... I think i will try to Sand ist Off. If that doesnt help, i will dye the Rest of the fleshside with Edge Kote, too. Will there be Problems with Rub Off?
