    My Hides!

Well I decided to cut me about 5 yards to see how I do with the Aussie Strander. That went really well. It was like riding a bike. Once you learn the tool you don't forget how to use it. The pre-final lace cut went well. Attached below is the 5 yards I cut & beveled. 5 yards cut and beveled. Close up of the 45 degree bevels. It was beautiful to cut with such awsome hide. There's nothing like it in the world. Brian...

    My Hides!

Hey Charlie. I used my pay pal account to do the conversion below. It comes out to $101.44USD for a whole hide. He pays all the fees for importing & shipping. He's fully licensed in Australia. I paid him with my pay pal account. You'll have to contact him by email in order to arrange the same kind of payment method of you wish to go that route. Otherwise, it was a smooth transaction. I can't complain at all, which is what I was looking for in a supplier. The best hides & service. Richard Taubman is a down to earth kind of guy, so you can expect a really kewl dude on the other side. Brian...

We do up to the part of the cutter. I have a cutter, but I use my Aussie Strander to cut the straps like you have there. I will have to try out my cutter then. Brian...

    My Hides!

G'day mate. Yep they are drum stuffed and they are Whiskey. I did do a small prep cut for lace tonight. Only about 9 or 10 yards at 1/2 inch wide. I think I will take that into about 1/4 inch to see how it does there also. But the cut was so nice. I have not beveled or split yet. But it will turn out nice for sure. They are just awsome hides for sure. I know where I'm gettin all my hides from, even if it does take a month to get here. Brian...

    My Hides!

I will cut a big oval and then cut strings from that oval. I cut over sized strings first, then cut, split and bevel for final strings. The smell is what I think got me all giddy. Made my whole shop smell good. LOL... Still need to settle down though. I have a few projects in mind. But picking which one will come first is my problem. LOL... Brian...

    My Hides!

Richard Taubman is who I got them from. He came recommended by a friend of mine over yonder. Taubman & Webb is the name of the company. Tell him Brian sent you if you talk to him. His site, Taubman & Webb His email is at the bottom of the page. Thanks. I have been waiting and waiting and shopping for the best that I could find. Now, HOLY crap! I'm as giddy as a school boy with a new girl friend. Brian...

    Key Fob

I know now that I will need extra lace for the bottom part of the fob. I needed enough lace to go the 5th pass because the bottom bights slipped down when tightening it. When they slipped down it opened up some more room for another pass. I did not guess right on the length of the lace for that particular bead. Sucks sometimes. But that's braiding. LOL... Next one I make be for me... I never seem to have enough time to make me a fob it would seem. LOL... Thanks for the kind comments. Brian....

    Key Fob

Here is key fob I made for a buddy of mine that I been knowin for about 20yrs now. On the top you'll find a 3pass type and on the bottom you'll find a 4pass. This one is a multi-pass type 1 Pineapple Knot shaped and formed around 2 wood beads and in the center of the beads is a spanish ring knot to fill in the gap and give the pineapple something in the center to rest on. Kangaroo Hide. Not one of my best fobs, I know. But this was my first time messin with the multi-pass type 1 PK. I do better next time. ehehe... Brian...
  17. You'll want to visit the Braiding section of the forums here. Here's the link to it. Briading
  18. Bracelets, Necklaces & Walking Sticks, or Hiking Sticks & Dog Leashes seem to be working for me at the moment. Brian...
  19. Maybe this will help. I don't know if it will or not. But here it is anyway. Brian...
  20. Up till now I have only tried out their Goat Skin. That's not too bad. Kind of like working with Raw Hide in away. Takes a little less dampness to work with it. But over all good skin. Now that you have brought Kangaroo up and they are selling it, I will have to give it a try, I think. I just got done ordering 2 hides from Taubman & Webb in Australia. Can't wait to get my hands on them. I'm slobbering already. Brian...
  21. Well so far no results on the heat shrink tube. Seems to be holding up quite well and causing no problems. At least the customer has not come back with one yet. That's always a good sign. Brian...
  22. Can you give me a couple of days to work it out. I will have to build an 9part 8bight to see where you are. I'm not too good with what is there unless I'm tying the same thing as you are and then follow the O2, U2 sequence.

  23. Interesting. I'm not sure how it will effect the hide. But my guess is that little bit of heat shrink wont be that bad, even over some time. But I don't know that for a fact. So, guess I will have to see when the time gets here. Thanks for the bit of info on the rubber. That will be helpful later on. I just order 4 more hides over the week and should be getting them within the month or so. They will be a welcome addition to the shop for sure. Brian...
  24. Over at youtube you can find a good little video on that.
  25. I know I don't like using white anymore than I have to. Simply because it does get dirty like you all say. This will most likely get dirty anyway. But that's what the customer wanted and I advised them that it would no matter how I did work it. It's a key fob so the handling will be a lot and with hands no matter how clean they are, or seem to be, the white will still get dirty. But it's a nice fob anyway. Brian...
