  1. Hi Aggie. Very nice work by the way. I really like your work there. I notice that the nose button has a twist to it. Maybe this is what is causing the out of center you speak of. I have never made a bosal before. But that could be it. When you wrapped the lace it may have caused a twist which is normally what will occur with that type of braiding. I know that part for sure because of the Fid Work I have done. Fid work is a very close similar technique to the bosal nose button. I have to wrap my strands the same as the nose button on a bosal. I don't know for sure. But this would seem to be the cause to me. I could be wrong though. Brian...
  2. What purpose does it serve to be an arrogant pompous ass with your art work? What kind of point are you trying to make? You say you invented something? Mind telling me what you invented since this same braid can be found in Bruce Grants book, Ron Edwards book and a few Argentine braiding books I have. I'm sure I can find it in other places. You're not the only one that can do this braid Miguel. Here's the proof on that: Here's his link to the site where that photo came from; Leather Braiding By John That photo below may not be you, but it is the same braid. Are you sure you invented this braid? I mean I did find the herringbone coded braid in the above books and also in The Braider, and it is also covered in one of A.G. Schaake's books. The only thing you did to your braid is not put a core inside of the braid. That's it. Nothing more, and nothing less. BTW. You say you have been doing this for what, 10yrs or 13yrs. I have been doing this for 20yrs, knot tying and leather braiding together. So I do have a diversified eye and skill you could only dream of. I really hate to have to tell you this. But you need a study in history that will show you just how long knot tying and leather braiding has been around. I figure this. I know that you have been a student of GH. So I will do my best to leave GH out of this. But you should know that I am a self taught braider. I do have a braiding mentor that I go to for advice. I surely would not pick you because of your arrogance. If you are the type of student that GH School produces, I don't think I want to waste my money, or time. Your attitude toward this art and craft is an abomination to the rest of us braiders who have an undying passion for this art. You say braiding is your job, well I don't really care. I have a real job and only have so many hours a day to practice this fine art of leather braiding. I do my best to share with the other members here and on my website so that they may or might benefit from what I have learned. That is called being a colleague to the rest of the braiding community. The braiding community is much larger than you know Miguel. I know a lot of braiders and knot tiers world wide. Not to mention some of the best of them in Australia. I now leave the floor to anyone else. Sorry for the long winded post folks. Brian...
  3. Bull shit there's 10. I know there's 12 there. I can count dude. And in your photo you are showing OVER 2, UNDER 2, OVER 2. If anyone else would care to take a look at this one. I think a 16 strand The one in this photo is not a 12 strand. But follows the same damn sequence as I mention. Ya know Miguel. I have tried my hardest to be nice to you. I have complimented your work and posted so others can see your work. But with the comment left behind in your last post, leaves me with a really bad taste in my mouth. I am pretty sure that here on leatherworker.net that Johanna would agree that we all try to be colleagues here and not throw comments out like you have in you last post. But that's fine. You want to act like a pompous ass, that's fine too. I leave the floor to whoever now. Brian...
  4. I have not had any contact with him in a while. He has since moved. I don't know if he has any of those tools left, or not. Brian...
  5. There are a couple of key things to concentrate on with this technique. The tightness of the braid and as you say keeping the braid straight. So far I have only been using my fingers to keep it flat like you see in the photo. I think it works really well. Brian...
  6. I'm gettin closer now. Over 2, Under 2, Over 2, 12 strand Herringbone coded braid. More practice, practice and even more practice. I can't stop myself. LOL... Brian...
  7. Okay so share your technique instead of sitting behind a closed door. If the technique you say is just a simple round braid flattened out, then maybe you should share how you are achieving the block in the braid. You say you are not using a core to make this braid as square looking as it is in your photos. But when I do this braid, the braid wants to take on the natural form in which it is intended, (ROUND). Yes I know that the braid in my photo is not perfect. But it is also the first time I have attempted your type of technique. I'd say that I'm getting pretty damn close. But as with any other braid, it will require some more time and practice to achieve the proper tension for this technique. B...
  8. This is not bad for my first attempt at Miguel's technique. Well at least I think so anyway. 12 Strand Herringbone Coded Round braid without core. The technique involves adjusting your traditional way of braiding with a core to without a core. Instead of braiding so tight you would braid looser than you would as if you were braiding around a core. I hope to have this technique mastered soon. I hope that is... Brian...
  9. Applique the braided handles at the intervals you find necessary going the length of the leash. But being as thick as the cut is, I don't know how well that will work with plaiting a braid like that. The handles then would be apart of the actual leash and not knots. The thickness of the latigo might be a bit thick for that. It would still offer a great attractiveness to the leash and be out of the way. More or less the handles will still look custom. But still look like they belong to the leash. My 2 cents worth. B...

  12. Muchas gracias Miguel. Esto es muy apreciado por mí.
  13. Hola Miguel. You are welcome. I simply love your braiding and it is worth showing as much as possible. Not only here on leatherworker.net but also on my own site I have been showing your work. I would love to have instructions in that method myself. Miguel please get in touch with me on making instructions for this method used, Usted es bienvenido. I would love to make a few bracelets for some friends of mine. This way is so much better than the round braiding. I have searched my Argentine books high and low to find that braiding method. Me encantaría hacer varias pulseras de algunos amigos míos. De esta manera es mucho mejor que el trenzado redondo. He buscado en mis libros argentinos de alta y baja para encontrar que el método de trenzado. Contact me at bkidd@khww.net Brian...

Thanks Bevan. I still have along ways to go to get my lace as sharp looking as yours though. But that will improve once I get my cutter inserts. Then, it's on. I wont be coming out my dungeon for a while. LOL... Brian...

    Kangaroo Hide

I am thinking 1/8 for a project I have to finish. That's a lot of string in that tub. The rest, after the project is done, I will probably make some key fobs and necklaces and bracelets and so on. The stretching is just about like any other lace. Just more of it and a little wider. Mostly it's just stretching it to straighten it enough to cut it down, and then stretching some more as you go. Brian...

Well, got my Saddle Tan all cut. Here's a photo of what I ended up with. Conversions; 24,688.8 MM 2,468.88 CM 24.6888 M 0.0247 KM 972 IN 81 FT 0.0153 MI The cutting of the hide would've only taken me about 20mins. But the phone kept ringing because I am on call until Saturday. Sometimes, I wish I could retire and just leather braid for a living. Wont get rich. But I'm not in it to get rich anyway. LOL...
