I guess this would finely happen ! I have a box full of baseballs another 10-15 key fobs, more than enough coasters and a couple of wallets. All setting doing nothing. The most I have sold was baseballs to people on another Leather Forum. I have a journal to do for my g/nieces nurse . After that I'll put everything aside. Thinking about doing Jewelry stuff or back to wood carving. It's one of those things. Stand down and recoup. Joe Stewart

That's some painting and tooling you have done. the cheek on the cardinal caught my eye. Well done. -
Mud, I use 4 to 5oz because you can get a single shoulder. 3to 4 oz maybe better . You may will loose tooling definition. The leather will be thicker than original covers . You have to compensate for that. So looks are deceiving. You will not know if it will fit until the stiches are tightened. May have to stretch or shrink. Circumferences are a pain. 1/32 makes a big difference.

It's time top step up to the plate and do some more baseballs. The weather is right-Beer is cold and the Dogs are in the Buns. Cause Mighty Joe is about to have some fun.

This baseball bout wopped me. I have been using 4-5oz leather on the other baseballs but this 4-5 oz seemed to be thicker. That created circumference problem and the first set of pads was to short. So had to redo over. Now I need to buy a good set of wing dividers that can etch 1/8 parallel lines.. Joe

Thank you Ray. Doubleh Yep-- I done tobacco pipes, Knives, welded hanging baskets and flunked on Honey do's. Harbor fright does not interest me no more and Flea markets have the same stuff in the same place. Yep retired. -
I guess I just like doing these. They are not good for anything except showing off what can be done on a custom style order. I sit and pound these out and wife has the Audio book going so life is good.

Still Doing Coasters

BIGGUN. I take a part an old baseball use it's cover for template and recover the core. There is circumfluous tolerance problems with thickness of new leather to original skin. Also with how new the ball is. Must be that an old ball is more pliable so if the new pad is a tad small, the core gives so you can stretch. Not so with a fairly new one. -

Thank you Dwight. The wallet design was from a Tandy kit. I am using 4-5 oz cause that's all I have. will use a wood carving gouge on the inside seams. Will the paint wear off? that's to be seen. Here is the parts. left side and right side flaps are the same.
