  1. These are the one I have made so far. When the right Craft Show or Charity come around , I will display them for sale. I am working on doing belts now and that's a different learning process. I found out that the Metric system saves a lot of time on finding center and spacing. that measuring system is a must with baseball covers. Thanks for looking Joe Stewat
  2. Just finished this one. Now I am doing temps at belts. Now that is a learning process. Small stuff table corners are ok. Not for belts-so round them off_I will. Metrics work better than inches. Tooling letters is a lot different from 1 inch against 1-3/8. Staining and burnishing is a new world. Oh forgot making sure the the middle hole mark is the actual mark and not end of belt.
  3. Thank you all for the compliments. Started an Orioles one. Traced pad out and it slipped. One already trace was laidon a q-tip with stain on it.. well I can make belt keepers or test stamps out on them So stupid mistakes is over confidence that you think you know what you are doing. Joe
  4. Just need to stain a little and seal. pipe is 2 years old. I do love doing Baseballs. All the skills of tooling goes out the door if the pads are not cut out right. This ball had no problems. After saying that the next one will bite me in the Butt. Joe
  5. Now this is her resting place. She sleeps but does not want to work. Yeap she is there on the seat. A Bombay Cat. Also known around here as a minuture Lutz panther. Shes kind of like a duck. Everytime she wakes up it seems to be a new world to her. Joe
  6. I am trying to expand to other items then Flask, Baseballs and Coasters. I used scrap leather and old belt buckle. The leather was almost 1/2 nch thick and dried. Used saddle Soap to soften at the buckle end. Used a 1 inch belt sander to thin down the leather. The scrap was 5 inches wide so I used a band saw to make the belt blank. Any way its for a neighbor that has a Caretaker look after him and walk his dog. Joe
  7. New homes are sending them out of the swamps. We are in a populated rural area that 25mph means 55 mph. How they survive crossing roads is a wonder. Joe
  8. Just need to seal it up and ship out to Granddaughter. Its feels good to do something lager than a Baseball. Joe
  9. Will start on the inside flaps. Yeap there are mistakes. An more do will have about the same mistakes. Just life.
  10. Thank you Scootinnc and Bev478. They pick their themes and colors. They keep weekly diaries . Joe

Me, too. Mind is off track. When I should be thinking bevel deep here, fade there, reverse here -- instead all I can think is who's stinkin idea was this ....

Ha ha, JL, been saying that for YEARS!

  13. Looks sweet. I seen your measuring marks at he base. You do need to have a little spacing between the legs. So the leg with the hinge can rock back. Leather on the clamping pads. On mine the I put the bolt too high up. It restricted the opening. I dropped it further down. Joe
  14. This completed and sealed. Started another baseball. After that one I believe I will do some coasters, key fobs Book markers ad simple /crd/wallet. Jo
  15. Well I get a little help. This one is ready to be painted. That cutie is a Bombay cat. She does not take criticism lightly. I got scars to prove it.

TXAG, The thing is no one shows the wasted leather. Its all about measuring and correcting, that's were you use a lot of leather up. I would give you a guide . I tried others style but It's something that you have to develop with your own skills. PM me. See what happens . If I write something on here, well, some will have done it better

Well now, It is in the saddlers Journal. Electrathon is right about retightening. I Never stuffed the ball. what's not said is it's an trial and error thing. I seen a guys picture of his B/ball. Told him that I would like to do them and asked if it was ok to show the work . I did copy him.. He gave a few hints. After that I was on my own. tried other peoples way just to see. Well that's their way. does not fit my way. That is the way things go. Too many variables. Size of leather, stitching holes distant + others. problems. Joe

This is just waiting for the tooling to be painted or just darken a little bit. still working on the stitching keeping the pads evenly paced from each other.
  23. Well That's a project out of the Box with few options. So here is what came to mind. knock off a piece of bark, seal it to keep from braking apart. Wet /case a piece of leather and add pressure. See what happens. it will be mirrored I think. May have some depth. Joe
  24. Thank You Ray.
