  1. lol...how can someone so skilled with a needle be so careless with a bottle of dye? A cautionary tale for all of us!
  2. That's fantastic! Post some pictures!
  3. I have a 1/2 ton. I might need to get a bigger press
  4. I have a makers stamp made from delrin and I use an arbor press with it to attach my mark to veg tan. Has anyone tried this type of combination on Horween? If so...what were the results? Thanks
  5. Zikman asked me to help him with a case for sunglasses. Here's the pattern. It seems to be pretty self explanatory. Printed size is 11x17 Sunglasses case.pdf
  6. Thank you for your reply. When you say 'properly set up' do you mean that the machine has been tweaked or are you referring to the selection of thread and needle size? Also, does the feeding mechanism mark up veg tan and, if so, is there a way to mitigate that? Thanks
  7. We're I to copy the pattern precisely, a copyright would apply. A copyright on a picture simply means I cannot use the picture itself for commercial purposes. There's no law against creating one's own pattern based upon another's design. The trademark goes to logo and name usage. That, I would never copy
  8. Sure. I'll start on it Monday
  9. Thanks for the input. I think I'll keep on saving for a Cowboy
  10. That is a challenge but I do love a challenge.
  11. I don't know. I've only had them quote me. I've never ordered anything before but I'm about to pull the trigger on one or two items
  12. Here's the deal A few of you have sent me pictures of items and asked me to make them some patterns. I am happy to do that based upon the following criteria; Once we agree that the pattern is as you like it, I will upload it here for all to share in in. If you want the pattern to be proprietary, I will send it only to you but I will charge you 15 dollars an hour for my services. I'm pretty fast on this. The biker's wallet took me an hour to put together. I will continue to upload my own patterns for others to use freely.
  13. Are they giving you a volume discount? based on my previous quotes from them that's about 360 bucks worth of dies being cut
  14. How did it react at the 12 oz? I'd like to get one of these and don't anticipate doing much more than the 8oz of leather you mentioned but every once in a while, I'd like to knock out a thick belt
  15. After a lot of back and forth, Greg has finally blessed this latest version of the patterns. Sorry for all those who downloaded the earlier version. watch4.pdf
  16. great thread and very informative. One thing. I don't see anything that would account for adjusting stitch length. Is there any sort of mechanism that feeds the material through the machine or is it all by hand?
  17. Has anyone ever tried one of these? If so, what, in your experience, is it capable of? http://www.leatherpatcher.com/
  18. Absolutely correct on the snaps. There has to be a way for the iPad to be kept in the holder and snaps seemed the likely way
  19. My friend asked me to make a cover for his iPad Mini. I downloaded the specifications and came up with the following: All that is here is the part that would hold the device to whatever the user wants; which is the most difficult part It can be attached to the back of a sleeve or placed in a booklet type arrangement. I didn't feel like drawing up that because, to be honest, if you can't dream up what to attach this to, you shouldn't be trying it. There are two types of dashed lines, long and short. The long dashed lines represent gouge lines and the short dashed lines are stitched lines. The holder is designed to be closed on 3 sides and open at the top with (2) tabs that will keep the device in the holder with snaps. I've shown the basic layout for the cuts (shaded areas are obviously cutout areas. The dimensions were in millimeters but, happily, when converted to inches and allowing for the basic sizes of punches, the pattern lends itself to anyone with a 1/8" and a 1/2" hole punch. The 1/8" punches can be used to facilitate the smaller slot type cutouts and the 1/2" punch is perfect for the larger center hole and for punching the radii for the corners of the screen cutout. The drawing on the left represents what it will look like prior to folding and stitching. The drawing on the right represents the finished product ready to attach to a back piece of leather if you want a sleeve or a larger piece if a closed 'book' type arrangement is what you desire. The print size is 24"x18" Have fun iPad Mini Holder.pdf
  20. That's an interior lining piece. I originally called for it to be cut out to cut down on some of the bulk of the wallet but it can be made of 2oz leather with no cutout and I don't see that being much of a problem. .
