  2. My friend X. L. Rey has made for me two excellents knives for cutting leather: 1- a half-round knife 2- a mixture between beveler and trim or round knife-cutter, I don't know how to call him exactly (this last one is my own design, a bit personal). The blades are excellents, a perfect cut, deer horn handle, forged steel, fine work, easy for use, ... like a glove on the hand. I hope persuaded to my friend for to make an adjustable lace maker for several wides and more knives. I wish you like it and I would like to read your opinions about the utility of these two knives.

  6. I have horsehide of 3 mm = 7 to 8 oz = 0.12 inch = 0.01 ft. Is a good leather for carving or stamping? Which is the better use for this horsehide?

Excellent book with more than 200 patterns for leatherworks, simple and useful book. $14.95 in amazon.com 2- Encyclopedia of Rawhide and Leather Braiding by Bruce Grant. A wonderful book to help you learn the skills required to do any leather braiding. Another books: 1- New at tandyleatherfactory, I don't know how the book is: The Leather Craft Handbook. "A great book for the beginning leathercrafter. The 30 pages include transferring patterns, basic stamping, basic carving, coloring, staining, dyeing, lacing, stitching, setting hardware and belt making. By Tony and Kay Laier", $2.49. 2- The Leatherworking Handbook: A Practical Illustrated Sourcebook of Techniques and Projects by Valerie Michael.   11. The trick is get a plastic sheet similar to the craftaids for to print the computer desing and get your own craftaid. Does anybody know the name of that plastic and the way of made a plastic craftaid?

  16. Thanks folks! Is not hard to make if you have made twenty or more. Is a good model for a keychain or for to place in the penciltip. You can use an origami patterns book for these kind of desings.
  17. sorry, I don't know North Alabama but I would like it. I think that you can get it in a photocopy store because they use the plastic sheets for binding. You can look for in a plastics store, I suppose.

  19. I always use a thin plastic sheet. I never use wood or cardboard. If you use a very hard wood, then could use a thin board. If the leather is vegetable tanned you can use a thin metal's sheet of aluminium.
