Something you may or may not know, Bob being a custoom tool maker, his wait list can be a year or more to get your tool made. Well worth the wait, just so you know.

  9. Howdy Did you know you could go to Fiebing, com and look at their color-chart? That might be a good place to start. My guess is British Tan... Sure Hope this helps.

  13. Hi Bison Dave I think I will test this Blackrock Leather Finish. Like you, I usually use the Leather Balm with Atom Wax and I have also tried the Aussie Leather Conditioner. I suppose they are all good for different applications. Like some leather work is just for looks and not handled much - like a picture frame or a clock face and other leather work is handled a lot like wallets and checkbooks etc. Others like coasters probably need to be waterproofed after the leather conditioner. So much to learn...... But I will definitely test this out because I was given a small bit to try before I buy. Thanks for taking the time to answer... Hi Dirtclod Thanks for the tip that it wont change the color much. Some times that is OK and sometimes it is not good. So, why do you put it on with your fingers? I wonder sometimes if I might not be getting too much exposure to these leather-working chemicals. I usually think that after I was in too much of a hurry to put my gloves on when dyeing or using Barge Cement... I think I will take your suggestion in mind and use a small amount first to start and see how that works. And, I see what you mean about trying to find a economical outlet... The Blackrock is about twice as expensive as the Aussie Wax. But if it has Really Good results - looks good, isn't oily or greasy, lasts long without needing to be reapplied as often (depending on the application) it seems like it would be worth it. Thanks so much for taking the time to answer... HI Rick Thanks for your input. And, Thanks So Much for an outlet for the Blackrock Leather 'n Rich Leather Conditioner. I'll give them a call or check out their website if they have one. *Looks like the number for Southern Leather in Denver is (303) 377-7653 So far the least expensive place I found on line is bigdweb.com - 4 oz. for $5.75 Thanks again for all of your help
  14. Anyone use Blackrock Leather 'n Rich Leather Conditioner? Let me know in my post @ Leatherwork Conversation

  15. Blackrock Leather 'n Rich Leather Conditioner? let me know in my post @ Leatherwork Conversation

  16. Hi fellow Leatherworkers I am always looking for a better way to condition and finish my leather goods' and a friend has recommended Blackrock Leather 'N Rich - Leather Conditioner. I did a search here for Blackrock Leather 'N Rich Leather Conditioner. and found nothing on it. *This is what the advertising says about it... "Blackrock's Leather 'N' Rich leather conditioner's unique formulation is colorless to enhance all leather tones, is easy to use, and economical. The genuine Carnauba Wax buffs easily to a shine. This product cleans, nourishes, and beautifies all leathers of all colors to a rich mellow glow, (except suede, naked leathers, unfinished leathers, and glazed lambskin). It is also excellent for use on exotic leathers." Soooooo, I was wondering if anyone here has any experience with this product? Do you think it is better than Aussie Leather Conditioner (commonly known as Aussi Wax) ? Do you think it will outlast or out perform other leather conditioners? Thanks for your help or advice
  17. Wow! I am so glad to hear that you and your friend had minimal bruises. You must be feeling Very Lucky Indeed and So Very Thankful to "the powers that be"... And that truck driver must also be thrilled that no one was more seriously hurt... Have you had a chance to talk with him? I can only imagine what it was like for him to see what was going to happen and not to be able to do anything about it. You and all of your families were So Very Fortunate! I am so happy to hear that you are going to be OK!

  20. If you go to ebay Duckcreektraders on ebay you can look at their items up for sale, there are 2 or 3 pictures for each item, that will show you what they look like on different projects. From what I have seen, (imho) I think their prices are Very Reasonable. It just depends on what you are making. Use the impression as is, or use it for a pattern and add your own tooling to it or around it... Here's an example of the Matched Pair Saddle Pattern Emboss Plates 4 3_8" x 5" and just one of their examples. Your options are endless... ....back to the original post and the US & CS emboss plates
  21. Clicker is a Die Press - I don't know why they call them that... The Tippmann Clicker is sooo easy to use for Cutting or Embossing leather with cutting dies and emboss plates. Tippmann 700 Clicker (or 1500) Die Press - runs on air. Electric - Craftsman 1 hp 7 gal. *Tippmann also makes high quality cutting dies, with great prices too - made to your specifications. I have this set up and there is so much less wasted leather. While I am learning leather work... I am trying to make some money too, making small items like Coasters, and Christmas ornaments etc. I can get over 200 3 1/2" Perfectly round or square coasters out of a full hide with very minimal waste. You can see the Tippmann Clickers on ebay or click on the link at the top of this page - they advertise their Clicker, Boss & Embosser up there. I got my Clicker for $1650.00. and for me - it has paid for it self. There is a Tippmann Clicker 1500 Leather Air Powered Die Press on sale right now on ebay
  22. Oh, Yes, these need to be used with a shop press or a clicker... These are instructions from Duckcreektraders *Over on another post about using an Arbor Press, 'Gawdzilla' mentioned that the small ones can be used with a C-clamp.... ....and probably a solid piece of metal above and below.
  23. Wow! That is a very clever idea! I wouldn't have thought of that. Good Thinkin' Gawdzilla!
  24. Hello - I have mentioned these folks before when I see someone is looking for something duckcreektraders might have available. They make 2 sizes of US & CS leather emboss plates. The smaller one is 1 1/4"x 3/4" and it fits on slings, belts, accessory straps, hat bands, badges, cap boxes, regimental plaques, etc., and a bullet pouch like this... The larger size of US & CS leather emboss plates is 2 3/4" x 1 5/8" and you can find a lot of uses for these on various projects from holsters, cartridge boxes, bags, canteen covers... and they used it on One of Many gun holsters - that sold last year and I have a picture of it too. I have quite a few of their emboss plates and emboss rolls also. They have a wide variety of 100's of designs to choose from and they always have something different up for sale on ebay - And they also have a website Bunkhousetools where you can go and look through what they have and order from them there or ask when they might have it up for auction. These folks are really Great to deal with and have Super Customer Service. I am a fan, can't you tell..... Hope this is of help to you
