  5. I was given a checkbook “Kit” to make and they had folded the leather in half the wrong way – so when I added the tooling and finally figured out the lining ….. it was all wrong! Wouldn’t you think the leather would be folded in half →the way it would be when used?

Thanks, I think I learned my lesson - sooo many lessons to learn, tho I'm lovin it. BTW - I saved the check book by cutting the large liner in half and using that to hold the checks and register.

Wow, you have been working leather for a looong time. Now I am guessin that it has probably happened a lot of folks… What did you do with the piece? Did you figure a way to use it, or did you toss it out?

  6. HI RWP I had some kits laying around and I made them last weekend. Two of them were different styles of money clipper kits. One of them I really like the style and would use it - the other one has a metal clip that sticks out too far and seems like it would be annoying to sit on. Although maybe you could substitute the clip from the kit with a belt clip that is flat? This is the one I liked better. On the inside it has a flat clip for bills and slots for charge cards or business cards. There is a pocket on both of the out sides for bills or cards This is the one with the metal clip that at the highest point is 7/16 higher than the leather - almost 1/2 an inch. Ouch! Hope this helps
  7. The good news is we get to Spring Ahead next week. The bad news is My fingers really hurt from soooooo much Sewing by Hand.

  8. I could "Feel' a lot of Leatherworkerlurker distress last night! Funny thing is..... you can get a lot of leather work done when you are not hanging out on the computer. 3 wallets 2 checkbooks & 8 coasters ready for the finishing touch. **Thank You Johaana, Kate and who ever else for your Time getting the site back!!!

  9. Very Clever. Seems like that might work and make the adults smile too.
  10. HI There I am right where you are, I have a new Boss and to use your words - I am also having trouble keeping my stitches uniform all the way through.... I did a search for ""tippmann boss" here at leatherworker.net and am going through all the posts on the subject. The only advice I can give is to use scrap leather till you get it figured out. I have seen a lot of leather work sewn with the Boss and I am sure it is easier than hand stitching... once we get experienced with the machine... and are sure we are using the right size needle and thread. I am just pretty disappointed that "The Boss" wasn't easier to use right away. But I guess it is like all leather work, the more you practice the better you get and the better it looks. Good Luck
  11. Just thought I'd mention..... These emboss plates are up for bid over at ebay US & CS Leather Emboss Plates 2 3/4" x 1 5/8" pictures of sample holsters duckcreektraders on ebay website - BUNKHOUSE TOOLS FYI - I am such a big fan of their emboss plates and they have some really great stuff up right now.......
  12. Whoohoo I just got a Set of 14 Used Filagree Punches

  13. Hi I read your post and had an idea or 2. This is just my humble opinion - What I imagine I would try would be to have an inch or so on the inside above and below the braided area ( you might try braiding it a little on the inside - Tap it a little bit with your mallet to flatten it out & that might keep it in place) and then trim it when you're finished. Have you thought about stitching completely around this braided area - As a part of the design? It seems like that would help stabilize your project. Then glue the ends down. I might try that. And then you would glue the liner in - so that would glue the braid and the ends to the liner? Some times when you are designing something new, you just have to make one and use it. You learn from your mistakes or your happy discoveries and using the item you will know how it will hold up and what you could do to make it better. Good luck with your project and let us know what you end up trying. and

  16. On my Profile page it says I have 86 posts ...from there click on Find My Content and it says There have been 47 items by LNLeather If I do a search for LNLeather it says there are 91 posts Hmmmmmmmm, Shouldn't the number of posts all be the same?
  17. Yes and Thank you for that..... But, I forgot to mention I have emailed him and got no reply. Apparently the way to contact him is to call and then there is probably a wait of up to a year... due to back orders. A lot of this info was in the Recent Status Updates, but I need to remember that probably not everyone reads these. I do hope you didn't spend too much time trying to find this information for me. I really do appreciate it! In my life I have noticed that I usually find what I am looking for, if I start telling everyone I know about what I am looking for. Soooo, What I am hoping for is that I attract a person out there that has one that will sell it to me. A lot of people read our posts every day... and I have noticed that 15 to 30 people a day read my profile and probably some of my posts. Also, someone might have one that they are not interested in using or they are selling leather working tools for someone else. Like on ebay I often see Large lots of leather working tools for sale, that may have belonged to friend or a relative... And, Some of our posts show up in a Google search. Soooooo I just thought I'd give this a try and see what I could find. But Thanks again for your help Tree Reaper I really do appreciate it!
  18. Alot is NOT a word.... I see this "a lot" - it is not one word. Did ya know?

    1. wildrose

      wildrose

I thought "a lot" referred to a piece of land (i.e. a, singular, lot) whereas "alot" referred to several of something (i.e. alot of deer)

I made this mistake a loooong time ago, until someone kindly showed me otherwise. Check your dictionary for ‘alot’ and then for ‘lot’. My Dict. Shows 23 definitions for lot. This is just one definition ---→ Often, lots. a great many or a great deal: a lot of books; lots of money.

  19. HI I know this is an old post, but I think your work is Truly Outstanding!
