I see some companies sell welding mitts. Tried to search for some in Dallas, but not getting much. I see a number available in Canada, maybe because we have cold winters. Do you need a mitt with a thumb? Regardless, might be able to modify a mitt for your left hand and use a glove on your right hand. Someone in your area should be able to make modifications for you rather than building a complete new mitt.

Are you actually using rawhide or are you calling it rawhide as you haven't done anything to it yet? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rawhide_(material) for a little info on rawhide.
