  1. Moved your post to Shoes, Boots, Sandals and Moccassins
  2. Moved your post to leather sewing machines. I think you'll get more response here from the sewing machine guys.
  3. You should join LW and frequent the Leather Sewing Machine forum. That's where the sewing machine guys hang out and you'll get more help there in general. Every post in Help Wanted has to be approved by a moderator before it becomes visible.
  4. Tag him as suggested above so he is likely to get a notice about your post. He hasn't been on this site since Apr 29, so doesn't seem interested anymore. I'm going to archive this thread in old/sold.
  5. This thread is locked until the OP contacts me with the required info. @Kirch268 and @permanentguest For your information, you need to tag users to be sure they receive a notification of your response. You can do that by highlighting and quoting a part of the post, or by tagging them by typing the @ symbol followed by their username and picking it from the popup box. (Click on it or tap to pick)
  6. That should be 2204.62 pounds. The SI Standard and user guide used in Canada uses the term tonne for 1000 kg.
  7. A little break down of US and Imperial fluid measures. 1 cup is 8 fl oz. US Pint is 16 fl oz. Imperial Pint is 20 fl oz. US Quart is 32 fl oz. Imperial Quart is 40 fl oz. US Gallon is 128 fl oz. Imperial Gallon is 160 fl oz. Dealing with tonnage, SI uses the term tonne for 1000 kg, 2240 2204.62 pounds.
  8. Above is a prime example of what can happen with 3rd party hosting. In other cases, the file just disappears! Please always post on this site! Was able to finally get far enough into PhotoBucket to get reasonably good files and combined the instructions into a PDF. Instructions: 2 Colour Mexican Round Braid.pdf
  9. Edited: Managed to get far enough into PhotoBucket to download the files referred to above. Here is the result (2 Colour Mexican Round Braid) combined into a PDF. 2 Colour Mexican Round Braid.pdf Here are some files I have collected. Mexican round braid.pdf Mexican Basketweave.pdf And a link to a Wordpress post https://s2leatherworks.wordpress.com/tag/braiding/ There is a great reference text by Bruce Grant - Encyclopedia of Rawhide and Leather Braiding available on Amazon and other sites. Edge Braid 1 to 7.pdf
  10. If your files are too large to post here due to file size restrictions, you need to resize your files to fit. Follow this link for some helps and suggestions. https://leatherworker.net/forum/topic/15122-how-to-post-pictures-on-lw/?do=findComment&comment=551171 There are lots of Apps, software, and online tools available on the web, or even built into your device to enable you to reduce your file sizes. 800 pixels in the longest dimension is quite adequate. Smart phone screens and many monitors don't display high res files in high resolution. People that live on the fringes of the internet appreciate smaller file sizes and high res photos may take from 10 minutes to hours to download.
  11. Parsons (British) 5MW steam turbine generators pre-WWII and post-WWII, different thread pitch and wrench sizes. Both units sitting side by side, looked identical. Had to maintain 2 sets of spares and wrenches. I learned a lot in that power plant. First job in a thermal generating station 1969. Re-bladed the last 2 rows of blades.
  12. Yes they were great! Now with their small size, I'm not interested anymore, plus developed a problem with all gluten products. So many treats are now on my bad list!
  13. The metric system adopted by Canada (The International System of Units (SI)) does not define a dozen. It's not a metric term. SI Practice Guide is available at https://www.csagroup.org/store/product/2701339/ It's your Vernon grocer/supplier that is decreasing the number of eggs per carton, and likely keeping the same price as what your dozen was. You should have noticed this long ago. Packages are getting smaller, and prices are going up at the same time. Compare a 5 cent chocolate bar from 1960 size wise and price wise today. More shrinkflation! That's the real pet peeve.
  14. His has a heater, but not enough for a dump like 16" of snow. His must be up to Gen 3 as it was replaced last year (for free, including newer type cable and longer cable).
  15. A few weeks ago, my son's Starlink went out. He had 16" of snow overnight. So the dish goes into a horizontal position searching for the satellites. Told him he needs to set it to dump the snow!

  17. I feel like there are a lot of real life skills that are no longer taught. One is to work for what you want, pay your way.
  18. Please read the marketplace rules and conform. You must provide a price, condition of equipment, any information or restrictions on shipping, and photos when possible. Failure to conform may result in your ad being blocked. See the marketplace rules here https://leatherworker.net/forum/forum/70-announcements/
  19. Not enough presser foot pressure if the leather is lifting the foot on the needle's upstroke is another cause. It destroys the loop the hook is trying to grab, skipping a stitch or multiple stitches.
  20. The required presser foot pressure depends on the material that you are sewing. If it is heavy hard thick leather, you will need more foot pressure to keep the leather from lifting the foot (due to the needle on the up stroke) , destroying the loop, and skipping a stitch. So more pressure for the thick hard stuff, and less pressure for thin soft stuff. To limit the foot marking the top of vegtan leather, the foot pressure needs to be kept low. So you have to test and find the sweet spot for the work you are doing. Thus the statement to "tighten until it seems about right".
  21. Accounts aren't deleted as it may destroy the integrity of many threads, especially if the user has posted many times in many threads. Username and identifying characteristics may be changed in order to protect the user's privacy.
  22. Over the past couple months, there has been a lot of spam posted. Some is a new user just registered to post spam. There are other cases where they have broken into accounts by hacking the password to the account. Several of these cases have been older accounts where the user has only posted once, and may not be following leatherworker.net any more. If you are using simple passwords or common passwords like "123", "password", "qwerty", etc. PLEASE UPGRADE YOUR PASSWORD. There are lists of common passwords available on the net. These hackers run those lists against a username login and in many cases have a match within 2 to 5 seconds. Some of these spammers are from Montreal, New York, and other cities, or may be using a VPN (Virtual Private Network) to hide their IP address and location, so they can be from anywhere. If your account is hacked and you are not a frequent user, I will simply mark the user as a spammer and you will no longer have access to post here. I've given up trying to get these one time users to change their passwords as it is just a waste of my time. To the rest of your that are frequent users, just upgrade your password so it's not easy to crack. Kaspersky is in the cyber security business. How to make strong passwords.
  23. You should tag the member or quote their post (or a part of it) so they are more likely to get a notification. You tag them like this: type the @ symbol followed by their username and pick it from the popup list. @BliksemDonder you have a request in the post above.
  24. https://brettunsvillage.com/ handles a lot of trunk items that might give you some ideas.
