If it was USMC black, it takes a lot of buffing to get rid of the 'loose' pigment on the surface. Needs to be sealed with a good quality water based or lacquer. Anything else doesn't provide a real seal. Oil and wax change consistency with temperature and rub off.

The 134-35 LR appears to be a leather needle. This needle system was made for PFAFF. You can use the 135-16 leather point instead. Your choice maybe determined by availability and cost. Since he supplied both, appears the machine is happy with either, that's my guess.

Yes it is all top thread. Draw it out on a piece of paper showing how it would have to go around a 2# spool and be pulled back up.

Look at various types of splits. Heavy, lots of colours.

Just the same as the top thread has to be pulled around the bobbin, it would have to be pulled around the spool. Huge loop and space required. How long/high would the take-up lever have to be to pull that loop back up snug?

Smart phone screens and many monitors don't display high res files in high resolution. People that live on the fringes of the internet appreciate smaller file sizes and high res photos may take from 10 minutes to hours to download.
