bustedlifter replied to George B's topic in Motorcycles and Biker Gear
George, A motorcycle seat is a cake walk compared to making saddles. You guys have skills that would make it easy. -

Best Paints To Use For Seats And Final Finish
bustedlifter replied to troy's topic in Motorcycles and Biker Gear
Bic permanent markers. They look great when you put it on and even better when they're wearing off. -
Nice work! Looks really good.
-
NICE! I know how the color like to take a hike with normal use. I use BIC permanent markers for small colored areas as they will wear off anyway and they look pretty cool when they're wearing off.

Leather Balm Vs Tan Kote Or Use Both
bustedlifter replied to Josiah's topic in Motorcycles and Biker Gear
I use Fiebing's Aussie conditioner. I've also used Fiebing's Snow Proof with good results, though I prefer the Aussie stuff. It has bees wax which is , imho, the best conditioner for leather. -
Thanks for the kind words Bobby. Yeah, I just use the inner tube but sometimes I put some foam around it to give it an even appearance. I ride a stroker Shovel in a rigid frame with a sprung solo and having that tube in the seat helps tremendously. There's nothing like riding on air. You can pick up different size tubes on the cheap and fool around with them on your seat pan and see what you come up with. Just make sure you can get to the stem to adjust the pressure.

Finishes For Tool Rolls And Saddle Bags
bustedlifter replied to CodaWolf's topic in Motorcycles and Biker Gear
That would be cool. I had a seat I made, that I thought it was too small and wasn't happy with the pan, lying around the garage. My son kind of used it on his big wheel and left it outside when he was done with it. I decided to leave it outside and did so for about the next six months. Rain, snow, freezing temps and blazing sun gave it a finish unmatched by anything I've ever seen. -
Finishes For Tool Rolls And Saddle Bags

No. I haven't. I've used it on stuff I dyed black, though. A lot of customers think veg tanned repels water like oil tanned. I tell them it won't and some are bothered by it and others aren't. I might try some vinagroon although do I like the way stuff looks when the black dye starts to wear off. -

I use Fiebing's Snow Proof on seats and tool bags. I use 8-9oz. leather. Veg tanned leather will get wet but I think it looks better when weathered. -

Anyone Have An Etsy Shop?
bustedlifter replied to HellcatLeathers's topic in Marketing and Advertising
Absolutely! Paypal ROCKS! I think if you don't use it you're just hurting your business. -
Or follow you to the next stop light/sign. See you on the road later. Run your scooter over in a parking lot. Or worse yet, run somebody else off the road and then realize it wasn't the one who hit their vehicle.

Sooo, you swing this " get back" whip at some car and the driver gets pissed and decides to run your ass over. Sounds like a good deal to me.

Thanks,man, I appreciate it!

It's a bit grimy because I haven't given it one of it's 2 or 3 yearly cleanings.Other than short z-bars, I think bars with hard angles are as butt ugly as drop seat frames, they break up the flow of the bike. Sorry to disagree with you on the bars but it would be a pretty dull world if everyone liked the same thing. To paraphrase Butthead, "If nothing sucked, nothing would be cool. Thanks! Rain and Simple Green!

It looks like those risers are huge in the pic because I have the bike parked on the kicker.weird angle. I like my 8" risers and SS Sportster bars. Those other bars are ...Awful!
-
O.K. that's the old seat on it.

Try this.
