Tubular, man, tubular. Actually the shape of the pan is pretty comfy, for about the first 20 miles or so... It's not unbearable, just a bit unforgiving.
Awesome! I'm always floored by the saddlemakers on here! I love the range markings on it, maybe the customer won't have to be so apprehensive about the first scratch or ding that way.
That's a 200-50 inner tube used in Razor scooter tires. You can get them from the Razor Scooter Store or Razorama. The smallest tube I can get locally is a 280/250-4 but it is quite a bit wider than the Razor tube.
I bought some a couple of years ago at Hobby Lobby,I think. They were in the picture hanging dept. They had some S hooks on them that were easy enough to get off. Or try the big box home stores.
Thanks Brad. I still have to do the edge and put a "finish" on it. I'll use Fiebing's Snow Proof to finish it by slathering some on it and sticking it in the sun till it melts into the leather and a light buffing with a cloth after that. Works great and I can put it under the kitchen faucet and the water runs off. The markers fade after some time but that definitely adds to the character.
Fiebing's Oil Dye and some Fiebing's Snow Proof over that. I slather Snow Proof over my seats and other items and put them in the sun and let it "melt" into the leather, works great! I put it under the kitchen faucet and the water runs off it.For color I use BIC fine line permanent markers.
Real nice work! Did you make this for West Coast Choppers? The manager there called me about doing some work for them and we exchanged some e mails, said he was going to send a pan to me a few months ago but nothing became of it.
I would make it long, that way you could use it to show how it would look on a variety of bikes. When you start getting orders definitely custom make it to their bike.
No, I wasn't messing with you. I think it works great! I've had Neetsfoot oil in an unheated area freeze up in cold weather and you don't have that problem with petroleum oils. Besides ,a lot of motorcycle riders think it's really cool that you use motor oil on something that's going on their bike. And I always have 20-50 or 60w laying around the shop. If you really want to blow their mind get some oil that they ran through their engine to oil up the project.
